Are you ladies adding your LO's to your dental plan? It's open enrollment time and I'm not sure if I should or not. I know they are still so young but they have teeth (albeit mine only has 3). Soooooooooooooo, what's O'13 doing?
My pediatrician mentioned taking LO to a pediatric dentist just to get things checked out. She has 8 teeth. My dentist said not to bother. So we aren't adding her this year.
When are you supposed to even start bringing them to the dentist?
I feel like right now Declan would just bite them. I guess you're right, I probably should add him in a just in case kind of thing.
Yeah, I'm with you. DD would probably do the same. I have no idea when you're supposed to start.
Well, I just googled and it says that children should visit before his/her first birthday. A local pediatric dentist also has that on his website. I guess I'm adding dd.
Our pedi said to wait till he is closer to 2. I would add LO now if you haven't already just so when the time comes you already have it done and no worroes about it.
I saw the year recommendation also but asked my dentist, he said DS does not need to go until he is 3 unless there is a problem. He said visits before 3 are more just to have the child comfortable going to the dentist. That being said I am adding DS to the dental just in case there is a problem, it is only like an extra $15 so no big loss if I don't use it.

I agree with you ladies. Now I'm trying to figure out which plan. I hate picking insurance companies almost as much as I hate going to the dentist!
We just did open enrollment last night! It's $260/year to add DD to our dental plan. So I called the pediatric dentist we will be taking her to this morning and she said DD will (likely) only need to be seen once next year and as long as everything's normal we're looking at around $60, if anything extra is needed (xrays, etc) we would still come under the $260 mark, so we decided to forgo adding DD to dental at this point and just pay cash from our HSA when the time comes :-)

We have a family plan already so DS was added at birth. I think it's a good idea though to add them in case they were to have a mouth/tooth injury which can happen so easily with wobbly walkers and little daredevils. DS has an appointment at the pediatric dentist next week with big sister. My mom is taking them for me though and giving me grief about him not needing to see the dentist yet. He would likely be pretty wild. I haven't decided if I'm gong to cancel and wait another year. DD starting going at 3.
Re: Adding baby to dental plan?
LO then (2 days) and now (1 year)
