I got a growth ultrasound yesterday, which was awesome. I feel like I'm able to appreciate the ultrasounds a lot more this time around because I can recognize her actions as being very newborn like. The tech took a sneak peek at the back of her head and we could see she has hair. I've gone from being 100% unprepared and rushed feeling to getting super anxious to just meet and hold her.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
Nothing much new and exciting here. I feel like this pregnancy has been almost boring so far. I'm 18ish weeks, and starting to round out a bit, but still wearing normal clothes. My main gripe is I'm gaining weight at the exact same rate as last time, and though my midwife says my gain is good for where I am, I know that if I continue at this rate I will gain 50 pounds again, and I don't know what to do about that except eat less, which I don't know how I could since I'm fairly hungry. I've got my fingers crossed that my weight gain will miraculously slow down in the next few months, but with the holidays coming up that's not seeming likely!
Otherwise, feeling great and starting to get excited about this little one as he/she starts wiggling around more frequently.

I totally get being worried about weight gain & being bummed that you are gaining more than you'd hoped, but have you considered that maybe your body just needs to gain that much to support a healthy pregnancy?
I ate terribly with my first. I took that whole eating for two and used it as an excuse to increase my ice cream and other sweets intake. I started the pregnancy 10 pounds heavier than my "ideal" weight. I ended up gaining around 30 pounds, but a good portion of that was in my face, legs and butt...not baby weight.
With my 2nd, I started the pregnancy in very good shape. I worked out through most of it, ate fairly healthy....much better than with my first, and still gained what must be my body's magic number of 30 pounds.
My point is, for me, it didn't matter how healthy I was eating and whether I was working out, I still gained the same amount. Don't be so rough on yourself about a number. Focus on eating healthier options, but don't feel bad about a treat every once in a while either. This is a special time in your life & who really cares if you gain 20, 30, 50 or 70 pounds in the long run. As long as you end up with a healthy, happy baby and a healthy, happy mommy in the end!!
I agree with @CLLDLL. I gained only 17 lbs with P, but I only went to 32 weeks. I've already gained about that much in 18 weeks this time around, and I'm trying not to stress. For me, the important thing is going full term, so I obviously expected to gain more weight this time around. Also I started out at a higher weight with my first. I lost all my baby weight and then some after P was born, so I'm wondering if my body/fat cells just were waiting to fill back up anyway
Nothing too exciting here otherwise. We have our anatomy scan next week on Halloween, so I'm pretty excited to see #2 moving around and (hopefully) finding out that everything looks good so far.
Oh, I have been feeling some kicks and movement in the last week, so that's been fun!
Hey ITK, remember when I was jealous because katniss was moving like crazy and NKOTB wasn't? Well i wish I'd never said anything bc he's making up for it now! Holy ninja! Nothing exciting to report. TMI: a few chunks of mucus plug have loosened but i know it means nothing. I'll be 34 weeks tmro so keep on cooking baby!
ITK was there a specific reason for the growth scan? Hope everything's going well!
I'll second what others are saying: I'm feeling good and enjoying the new movement at 19w. I've been having some random cramping the whole pregnancy and finally called my OB about it. They put me on the fetal monitor for 20 minutes and surprise, not one single cramp. So, we still aren't sure if it's contractions or not, but I've been advised to avoid carrying my 30lb toddler. It's actually going okay so far.

Holy Moly, how did you get to 34 weeks? It seems like you should still be 17 weeks! Keep cooking baby Candle, keep cooking!

It's just routine at my practice, they check the placenta, fluid levels, height/weight, and confirm positioning. I am pretty sure I'll get another if I go overdue, but I had A before her due date, so I'm not positive about that. It's kind of bizarre thinking that I may never again have another fetal ultrasound. @-)
I hope the cramping eases up for you, and baby stays baking in there. FWIW I've been having crazy cramping since around 20 weeks too. Sometimes they're definitely contractions, other times I think it's just from carrying a second baby.

This has felt like the shortest pregnancy ever! I'm not sure what happened lol.

Yes, I have definitely considered that, and I'm pretty sure that's what its going to come down to. Ultimately, I lost the weight easily last time, though it took a while, so I'm not worried about getting back to normal, just annoyed that my body decided to be the one that needs all this extra poundage - it's uncomfortable! I definitely gained at least as much in my face, arms, legs, back, etc as I did in my belly last time around, and I wish that wouldn't happen again, but I understand that everyone's body is different, and if this is the way my body does things then I'm okay with that. At least I can cover up my chunky arms and thighs with clothes this winter instead of stuffing myself in shorts and sundresses. No helping the face, though. :P

That's cool; the practice I was at last pregnancy was pretty stingy with doing ultrasounds! Regarding the cramps, I'm hoping this is just what my body is going to do because I'm out of shape or whatever, and not actually contractions this early. It's reassuring to hear someone else has experienced something similar!
I haven't seen my baby on u/s since 19 weeks and my practice doesn't do another
That's a good problem to have! It means things are going just fine!
That's typically the protocol at my practice too. I had one dating u/s and the a/s last time, because I had zero complications...until I had a 32-week preemie.
Now I'm scanned all the freaking time and will have scans every two weeks starting soon. Pretty soon you'll have your outside baby! Pssh ultrasounds then.

On the plus side, not long now until you get to see him again, and for real this time.
