what to do on vacation with no sprayer

I tried searching because I feel like this has been discussed, but my internet skillz are lacking and here we are.

SO

I've been accustomed to finer things (sprayer) and we are going to the in-laws for a long weekend. What do I do with the poop? Does just dunking it in the toilet really work? If it's relevant, we mostly use flats.

TIA

How old is LO? DS is 3 months and still just has the runny breastmilk poop and I've never used a sprayer and just throw them in and wash them and have never had a problem getting them clean. Otherwise you could get bio liners.

  • @HeatherHam10‌ He's 9 months old and eating solids. I miss the ebf poop days!

Liners are a good idea! Can you buy them at walmart? I am stupid and didn't plan ahead. We leave this weekend.

  • Good point @TJ1979‌

I'll look into getting liners and use the Peri bottle as a last resort.

    Thanks, ladies!

  • Liners never worked well for us; they just got bunched up and didn't keep poop off the dipe at all.  Definitely try by all means, though!  Never tried a peri bottle, but that's a good idea.  When we went to my parent's I would use a plastic knife to scape the poop into the toilet and then toss.  I ended up having DH install a sprayer at their house, too, though, b/c it sucks to be without it! = )

  • I was also going to suggest "flushable" liners. I have used Bummis and GroVia. They both worked for us. I found it helps to cover the whole diaper when it's flat, and then tuck in the remains after you put the diaper on. I used to leave them folded in the poop zone and it would always move. :(

  • Dunk and swish. It's only poo and it doesn't bother me (aka I make my hubs do it).
  • Never had a sprayer or felt the need for one. If you're lucky, just plop or shake the contents into the toilet.

  • Another for dunk and swish. We did that with my first before I ever heard of a diaper sprayer. This time we'll be doing the dunk n swish again or try to use the sprayer from the shower. Our place is old and the knob to turn off the water to install the sprayer rusted off.
  • Yep, dunk and swish works great. I don't have a sprayer and never felt the need for one. On a random occasion, if I have one that has tiny bits that don't come off in the toilet, I will rinse using the bathroom sink faucet (and dh won't complain since I saw him do it to). Hands in the toilet water is nbd; that's what a soapy hand washing is for.
