Best Bottoms insert problems

My BB stay-dry inserts are not absorbing. The water seems to roll right off the top when I sprayed water on them, and we had 3 leaks when LO peed yesterday. The microfiber back is completely dry when I check them after a leak.

I stripped them a couple of weeks ago with lots of hit water washes, but now they are leaking again. I do a warm prewash, hot wash, extra rinse (which is cold). I use just under the half scoop line of Count Save, so a little less than recommended. None of my prefolds, flats or bamboo inserts seem to have build up issues.

Is this common with microfiber/synthetic materials? I dont want to have to strip them every few weeks, but I can't see using less detergent than I already do. I'm considering just selling them after I strip them and getting more prefolds or something.

Yes, it's more common for synthetic fibers to get buildup and/or have stink issues than with natural fibers.  I did a hot water strip then washed mine with washing soda and it made a huge difference.  If you don't like them, and they are giving you trouble, get rid of them and buy something you like better.  Have you tried their cotton/hemp inserts?

I want to try the cotton/hemp ones, but the price is a factor. I'm not having a lot of luck reselling my newborn stash (I don't live in a very active CD market and cross-Canada shipping is expensive for selling through swaps), so I don't want to plan on trying anything new for a while, I might just stock up on more prefolds. I love my BB covers, so I plan on keeping those ... and getting the new Tie-Dye one when it's available to me.
