Car seat for air plane

I’m looking for some advice for a car seat to use on an air plane. A few weeks ago we went to target and purchased a car seat that is approved for use on a plane for a trip we are taking in December.  Well I have now found out that the plane seat only fits car seats up to 16 inches wide and ours is 17.5. Has anyone purchased a car seat for on a plane that they would recommend?

  • Yep, we use the Evenflo Tribute for air travel.  It has fit on a variety of planes, though honestly I never checked the measurements.  I would just put up the armrest and have it invade my seat a bit if the seat was too wide.  I've once had a flight attendant check that the seat had a sticker saying it was approved for air travel, but I've never had anyone measure it.

  • We have two Diono seats for the plane - they're great, too, because they fold to be carried on the back through the airport.

I just bought one of these and I was excited that it'll go on an airplane. What age do you need the car seat on the plane to?

@MissDemeanor‌ - it's recommended to use car seats on a plane if you use one in a car. I'll prob use one as long as my kiddo is in a 5pt-harness and then look into other options.
