Quick Update on Sleep Training

Hey ladies sorry I've been MIA lately, work is crazy, MIL is sick and Baby Boots has been sleeping like crap, well that was until yesterday!

We read the Baby Whisperer tips book and we started following the process with his first nap yesterday. It took 30 minutes of pick up/put down but he went to sleep! In his own crib! Without milk! There actually wasn't much 'pick up', I just gently laid him back down every time he stood up. One time I picked him up and he actually fussed more, and leaned towards the crib. He wanted back in! There wasn't much crying, mostly 'fussing' and I could tell it was just fatigue and frustration.

The 2nd nap was much easier (no tears!) and bed time I was scared about him sleeping alone and how he would do so I tried to put him in the travel crib in our room where he has slept for months, well he wasn't having any of THAT. He wanted his own crib and he went to sleep after about 10 minutes of hanging out with him and patting his back a little. He slept from 8:30 pm until 4AM! At 4 it took about 20 minutes to help him get back to sleep but he did and slept until 6:30.

Today nap time only took 5 minutes and he actually laid down himself! I do miss him in my bed and all the bedtime cuddles but I know he needs his sleep and we do too. My little boy is growing up. :-(

@twotexans thank you for the recommendation!

  • Yea! That is great news.

I am sorry you miss the cuddles, but it will be good for all of you in the long run. Find some time during the day for extra snuggles!

  • @BootsOrHearts I am so happy it's working for you!   M was still swaddled when we started the process, so we didn't have to worry about the standing.  I totally get missing bedtime cuddles though.  We just get cuddles in other ways now, instead of rocking her to sleep.  We do story time in the rocker before bed, and she loves snuggle play time in our bed.

After sleep training, M now enjoys her bed.  She will now request to go night night.  The vast majority of the time she is tired and ready for a nap.  Every once in a while, we will put her down she just wants to go play in her crib.  That rarely happens though.  She usually will play for 10 minutes and then fall asleep.  She also likes to play for a little bit before getting out of her crib.  She has a small soft baby that we let her keep in her bed.  When she won't go down now, we know it is because there is another issue.  She's either pooped, hungry, or not feeling well/teething.
