Switching Doctors

Today I have my 2 week follow up after my D&C, I'm really unhappy with the practice and I think I am positive I would like to look for a doctor else where. My question is can I ask for my file? If I end up leaving I would like my new doctor to have access to my history especially after this loss.

I think once you have a new doctor you can fill out a paper so they can request your file. But if not you should be able to get a copy of it.
And also I am being nosey (( lol)) ... never once did they ever give me measurements. it has left me with this feeling of uncertainty on whether I tried everything before I gave up.

You should be able to get your records for yourself or you can have them sent to the new doctor.  Either way you'll have to fill out a release form.  Good luck!

I've never understood why it seems like such a big deal for a pt to get their records.  It's our information!  If we want them we should be able to get them plain and simple.

I hope they don't give me crap over it! I have had the worst experience with them and I just want to get away from them as soon as possible. I do not plan to see this practice with any future pregnancies.  Although they told me its a blighted ovum I'm just not so convinced anymore.

My dr missed my ectopic at 5 1/2 weeks and it ruptured two weeks later. I saw something on the ultrasound but the sonographer dismissed me. The hospital I had surgery at was pretty awful too. I like my dr. but I don't want to deliver my next one at that hospital and that's the only one he delivers at so I'm leaving the practice after I'm cleared with this incident. I'd like my new dr. (when I find one) to have my records but if it's too much hassle, I'll just make sure to give them a good history. Good luck with your decisions and do what's right for you!!

I switched doctors after my loss. My new doctor (who is wonderful) went over my history and I asked him if he needed my records from my last doc and he said no. I guess because it was my first loss and it was in the first trimester and I had no complications from my D&C. I'm sure it depends on your personal situation but you may not need them. I definitely encourage you to find a new doctor that you feel comfortable with, it makes all the difference in the world. Good luck!
