Re: ****monday Ticker Change Check In****
Appts/ Updates? Got my cervix checked at my appointment Friday morning, and I'm 2cm dilated and 90% effaced. Progress! People at work tell me it looks like my belly has dropped over the weekend, so hopefully things will start happening soon.
How are you feeling? Today I'm feeling just fine! My back hurts a bit but other than that, not too uncomfortable.
What are you craving? Pineapple! Eating some now.
QOTW: Did you do the childbirth classes or birth classes. STM's did you do refresher? DH and I did the childbirth classes offered by my hospital back in September. I learned a few new things, but it was mostly beneficial for DH, who didn't know much of anything before the classes. We're glad we took them, we do feel prepared!
Appts/ Updates? Started primrose supplement per o.b. recommendation last Sunday. Upped the mg this Sunday. Lots of cramps and discomfort but nothing substantial. My work threw me a surprise shower on Friday. I start maternity leave in 2 days!
How are you feeling? A plethora of emotions. I am so excited, happy, ready, scared, nervous and anxious. I am hoping this is normal.
What are you craving? Chocolate. Anything with chocolate.
QOTW: Did you do the childbirth classes or baby care classes. STM's did you do refresher? I did take some childbirth courses and they were extremely helpful. I did five weeks and we learned so much. Also I did a hypnobirthing session to help with relaxing and calming techniques.
Updates- had an awesome shower yesterday. We got a lot of great stuff. It was rainbow and book themed. Most people didn't know and it wasn't discussed but it meant a lot to me. Will post some pics off my camera when I'm not mobile. My 34 week follow up is tomorrow.
Feeling- tired. I didn't sleep well last night and my sinuses are in overdrive it seems.
Craving- I had a major craving for an apple pie milkshake a few days ago.
QOTW- we did a three week child birth class at the hospital and I'm glad we did. I'm heading to a breastfeeding class at my doctors in a few minutes.
@songbirdsinging55 and @deezidee04 I'm so excited for you both! Our Monday check-in is about to get a lot smaller
@ThefutureMrsD I have never heard of an apple pie milkshake, but I think I will spend the rest of my pregnancy craving one!
EDD/How many weeks/Fruit? February 16, 2015/23 Weeks
Appts/ Updates? I have nothing coming up for a while! I did find out that I will need another GD test around 28 weeks, so I am not happy about that, but whatever.
How are you feeling? Seasonal allergies have been kicking my ass for a week - swollen glands, post nasal drip, congestion. I hate it! When I am not pregnant, Naporsyn helps, but that's about it. When pregnant, it seems so much more severe and lasts so much longer. I'm so tired of tea and raw garlic.
What are you craving? Health.
QOTW: Did you do the childbirth classes or baby care classes. STM's did you do refresher? I did Hypnobirthing classes for my first, but ended up with an emergency c-section so I never got to use it, although my husband uses it when he has dental work done. 16 years ago I was my BFF's Lamaze coach and that was interesting. I was the WORST Lamaze coach, ever.
My Carpal Tunnel seems to be better, but I am drinking a ton of fluids, so maybe that is helping? I'm still having tailbone pain, but it is more annoying than painful.

@Samuelismomma - Thanks so much for the check in!! Fingers crossed for good results!!
@songbirdsinging55 - Fingers crossed the primrose works!!
Appts/ Updates? So.... I went in for a "calm my crazy" ultrasound to check for baby's kidneys and my MFM doc was almost 100% positive he saw a bladder which means kidneys
How are you feeling? Slightly fatigued but that's about all at this time.
What are you craving? Bagels and bread... my stomach likes it but not my waistline!
QOTW: Did you do the childbirth classes or birth classes. STM's did you do refresher? We didn't do anything with Christopher... but we will be signing up and taking them for this little one
@footprint glad your carpal tunnel is better! Sorry about sinuses. I feel like my nose is swelling shut.
@TheFutureMrsD I'm craving ice cream now! Lol
WASSSUP PGAL ladies!
EDD/How many weeks/Fruit? 2/22/15, 22 weeks (!!), Papaya (??)
Appts/ Updates? Nov 3rd, 24 week u/s for growth
How are you feeling? Okay. Can't take a deep breath anymore.
What are you craving? To not have heartburn after I drink water.
QOTW: Both H and I are ACLS providers (advanced critical life support) and PALS providers (pediatric advanced life support) but if we were not we would have taken the infant/toddler CPR classes a the hospital. I took a breastfeeding class as well which really helped since DD went to the NICU and I had to initiate pumping which would have TERRIFIED me if I hadn't had some advance warning.

EDD/How many weeks/Fruit? June 30 / 4 weeks / poppyseed
Appts/ Updates? Had my 1st beta draw this morning. Waiting for "the call."
How are you feeling? Nervous
What are you craving? Anything salty.
QOTW: Did you do the childbirth classes or baby care classes. STM's did you do refresher? I did them with my pregnancy with DS and probably won't do a refresher.
@BookishMomma welcome to Monday ticker change!!
EDD/How many weeks/Fruit? January 19/27/rutabaga
Appts/ Updates? I just had my gtt and appt on Monday. Ugh, so yucky! And no results yet. I'm feeling anxious. Baby's heartrate was good, I measured right on track. Now just waiting on the results...
How are you feeling? Tired. Lots of pain in my pubic bone area
What are you craving? Sugary cereals and milk... So not good for you!
QOTW: Did you do the childbirth classes or baby care classes. STM's did you do refresher? DH and I are signing up for a November class for both.
@deezidee04 - I had planned to work later but DH thought some downtime would be a good idea. How are you feeling?
@songbirdsinging55 Are you planning on having your membranes stripped at all? My doc mentioned this as well. If anything, we'd do it at my appointment on Tuesday, at 40w1d. I'm not sure how I feel about it, though! Last week I was 2cm dilated & 90% effaced so I'm a good candidate for the sweep, I'm just wondering if it's worth the pain/discomfort. :-S
Had an appointment this afternoon but opted not to get checked, so I'm actually not sure! We did discuss possible induction dates though if LO doesn't come on his own soon.

I would say to check what your comfort level is. I think if I were past due and had zero progress I would opt for it. For me, I would wait until almost a week overdue. As much as I want to meet him, I want to give him the time he needs as long as it is safe to do so. Are you doing any natural remedies?
@deezidee04 I'd go for the membrane stripping personally. After 41 weeks gestational age there is no benefit to the baby being in utero and the risks go up. The postdates thing scares me so much, based on the clinical evidence and consensus recommendations. DELIVER ALL THE BABIES!!
From our database:
"Perinatal mortality increases as pregnancy extends beyond 39 to 40 weeks of gestation due to increases in both non-anomalous stillbirths and early neonatal deaths. Intrauterine infection, placental insufficiency and cord compression leading to fetal hypoxia, asphyxia, and meconium aspiration are thought to contribute to the excess perinatal deaths. The perinatal mortality rate at ≥42 weeks of gestation is twice the rate at term, increasing four-fold at 43 weeks, and five- to seven-fold at 44 weeks. Neonates born at ≥41 weeks of gestation experience one-third greater neonatal mortality than term neonates born at 38 to 40 weeks of gestation. However, the absolute risk of fetal or neonatal death is low."
I can get the references for you (the papers, mostly from ACOG) if you would like. In regards to your membrane stripping:
"We utilize cervical ripening agents in women with unfavorable cervices. In women wishing to avoid pharmacologic agents for cervical ripening and induction, membrane sweeping (also called stripping) can be performed if the cervix is sufficiently dilated, and reduces the proportion of patients who remain undelivered at 42 weeks."
Obviously it remains unsaid that gestational age should have been calculated in the first trimester (crown-rump length) and that is how the pregnancy should be dated to follow guidelines.
@songbirdsinging55 I would freak the f out if I was past 40 weeks and wouldn't be induced. I'm impressed that you're so calm. As long as they are monitoring LO with NST or BPP's you should be safe if OB is comfortable but your risk level goes up.

@deezidee04 the only risk is labor and delivery, really. There is a small risk of infection with any procedure or instrumentation, even IV placement or a blood draw or a membrane sweep but I think you know that.
@songbirdsinging55 no problem. "the more you know" haha
