Trouble TTC a Sibling

Well that was fun...

I had my followup appt for my surgery on Thursday and found out that I have stage 2 endometriosis, some scar tissue, a scar defect from my c-section, inflammation in my uterus and 2 benign masses on my Fallopian tubes caused by inflammation. She is concerned that while these were benign, that it may be indicative of a higher risk of ovarian cancer in the future. My Dr. suggested an anti-inflammatory diet and some supplements. The diet seems like it's pretty much just a lot of veggies, fruit, beans and whole grains with very little dairy (which I will be sad about).  No meds yet though, which seems like a bummer considering that this is cycle #19 for us, but I'm glad that she's discovered all of the underlying issues.  Hopefully by taking care of the endo and scar tissue and by me working on this new diet, we'll see some results!  Next cycle will be filled with lots of blood draws to check hormone levels and ultrasounds to confirm ovulation.  Also, I cried for the first time with the Dr... it's just all so overwhelming.  I hate that we're all here together, but it's nice to have some support. :)

Me: 30   DH: 32
TFAS since May 2013
8/14 - Bloodwork showed heterozygous MTHFR gene mutation and elevated AMH (but no cysts)
9/14 - HSG, Hysteroscopy and laparoscopy showed tubes clear, but found and removed Endometriosis, scar tissue and 2 small benign masses on my tubes.
11/14 - Daily ultrasounds confirmed that my follicles are not releasing the egg and every other day blood draws showed very low progesterone... DH's SA was near perfect
12/14 - moving onto meds!!! Hold up!!!  Surprise BFP after only taking the progesterone!  Now what do I do with all of the other meds we already paid for?!  Due at the end of August 2015 Beta#1- 4434 @ 22DPO  Beta#2 - 7335 @ 25DPO Beta #3 - 14429  @ 28DPO

  • There's some relief in knowing though, isn't there? Good luck and I hope the new diet helps! I went off dairy for my girl (milk protein sensitivity) for about five months. It sucks but it's worth it if it helps you get pregnant! :) hopefully taking care of the endo and scar tissue is just what you need. Big hugs to you!

  • Thanks ladies!  I had never suspected that I had endo, so that was interesting.  She didn't make any of the issues sound like it meant that I'd never get PG, so I'm still hopeful.  She seemed to be mostly concerned with the masses, but for overall health reasons.  She doesn't think that they were causing any fertility issues because although they were on my tubes, the HSG showed them to be perfectly clear and normal :)

  • While I don't have endo, I do have what the RE says is chronic inflammation.  I too had to change my diet.  It was not as hard as I thought.  A good way to stick with it is to think of it as Dr's orders and you are doing this for your future babies.  I already feel better.  Good luck with the diet and hope it works.  I am always avail to talk...if needed or wanted.
  • I'm sorry. That sounds like a lot to deal with. Glad the doctor has a plan in place for you to move forward.
  • @squirmworms ... What diet are you following?  Are you taking any supplements?  How long has it been since you changed your eating habits?  Sorry for the barrage of questions! ;)
