TTC After a Loss

Intro - RPL, PCOS, IVF mentioned - question on chromosomal losses

Hi Ladies, How are you all doing? I'm a long time lurker, and I think it's finally time I join in, so I hope you'll have me! As always, I'm sorry that we're all here. Most of my information is in my siggy, but basically, I'm 31, have had 3 confirmed mc's. I was diagnosed with PCOS but waited to seek treatment for a while. We left our original RE because we didn't feel they were being aggressive enough, nor taking my losses seriously, since I was seen as "young". The most recent mc was originally confirmed to be a normal karyotype by Natera, but the secondary pathology found it to be a tetraploidy following ICSI (which, uh, shouldn't happen?). Natera confirmed it was possible their test could come back as normal, but be a tetraploidy (with 2 sets from myself, and 2 from my husband) . I love my new RE, but he has no poker face and said no one in the practice had ever seen this before, especially with my previous loss of a triploidy. I know he's going to research the hell out of this and all, but has anyone experienced both a tri and a tetra? I just posted this on IF as well. Thank you ladies! ETA for correct terminology.
Yup.

  • Thanks ladies. @lav17, we did the RPL testing and everything came back normal as well. Don't think I've ever been so frustrated to have tests come back normal! I'm glad to hear your RE is positive. :)
    Yup.
  • @ktlovess‌ normal karyotypes. I just pm'ed you (I think!)

  • Thank you everyone. @PetraStonegirl‌ my background certainly isn't bio, but I also couldn't wrap my head around how it was possible (and neither could my RE). The only thing I caught that he thought as a possibility was a meiosis error, but he was clearly just spitballing and immediately said he needed to do more research. I'm just glad because he seems to want to solve it, not kick me out. We never did DNA frag on DH, but I'm sure there's going to be lots of testing we'll be discussing...and I fully realize we might be shelving the 6 frosties we have because they weren't tested. A bit maddening.
    Yup.

  • @medic7979‌, seriously, no problem. I personally think more info on the chromosomal issues is better, because it seems like with the exception of the "common" ones, there isn't a lot of easily accessible info. And thank you for providing the explanation @ktlovess, between my loss and if background, I know enough to be really dangerous, and forget that (thankfully) other people don't have to know.
    Yup.
  • So sorry for your losses. ((hugs)) welcome to the board.
