  • My weight has gone up and down this week.  Ultimately it just stayed the same as last week.  I guess I need to get a little more motivated again.
Me 27 DH 29 Married since 2007, together since 2001
Off BC since Febuary 2006 3 Clomid Cycles in 2008- symptomatic, US just showed a tilted uterus, otherwise normal, HSG normal.  DH has an ejaculatory duct obstruction and a congenital absence of the vas deferens.  This is common with cystic fibrosis carriers, but he doesn't have cystic fibrosis. IVF #1 with TESE/ICSI (Antagonist protocol) Aug 2014=BFN (poor embryo quality)   IVF #2 ICSI long lupron protocol November 2014

  • @lemonliz - no weight gain when AF is coming is a victory around here, so I say you win!!

Now that I have my big races behind me, I have to go into chill mode to get prepped for my cycle. Honestly, I am so busy trying to get everything in order that it's ok to reduce my running. I'm thinking about doing the 21 Day Fix (a watered down version of P90X) along with yoga, walking, and core/strength. We'll see.

COTW: Circle+Bloom is where it's at!

  • @katemonster1 - INTERESTING!!!!! (about the GF diet and improved cycle) Can you please elaborate a little bit? I can see that you also changed up your protocol quite a bit and added HGH. I really hope that was the perfect cocktail for you!!! When's beta? I must stalk... ;)

@.Mrs.Matt. - I totally feel your pain (though I am not within two miles of a big race... man, that must SUCK). All I can tell you is these are the thoughts that help me:
    1. I will run marathons again after this journey is resolved (regardless of the outcome).
    2. I will be a faster, stronger, and better runner when this is over because of this struggle.
    3. I chose to do IVF, and I can choose to stop whenever I want.
    4. I WILL run either the 2015 or 2016 NYC Marathon (the year depends on how this cycle goes).
    5. If this cycle fails, I will find the biggest, most exciting race out there and start training immediately.
    6. If this cycle succeeds, my husband will be holding our child at the finish line of my next big race!!!!
I could go on, but I'll leave it at that. I am sending you hugs... I know how hard it is to give up something you love so much.

@pblge - I am so happy to hear that you're off pelvic rest and feeling better!! If it's a matter of resting enough to feel good, then that's what you need to do. Take it easy and remember that your body is working harder than you realize. But if it's a matter of being lazy, then I'll be over there with my megaphone and I'll go all drill sergeant on you before you can get to your pantry for your next snack!! LOL!

@rainbowbridge14 - welcome to the team! It's so exciting to have another marathoner around here!! You asked for tips, and I have plenty :) Just holler if you ever have a question, and enjoy your training!! When's your IVF cycle?

  • @lemonliz - YES. I swear by Circle+Bloom, and purchased the donor program for donor and recipient... I wrote a letter to my donor explaining what it is and what it has meant to me... here are a few excerpts from my letter:

You may be wondering, “What is Circle + Bloom?” I wondered the same thing when I first heard about it one year ago.

It was November 2013, and my husband and I were preparing for our second IVF cycle. After our first cycle failed in October, we were heartbroken, stressed, and devastated. We decided to move quickly onto our second attempt with IVF, and held onto the hope that a positive pregnancy test would end our sorrow. But I realized that needed to do something more for myself during our cycle to cope with the stress and anxiety that IVF presents.

I heard some of the members of an online infertility forum speaking about Circle+Bloom, and decided it was time to check it out. Simply put, it is a guided meditation program specifically created for women who are trying to conceive. They have several programs from “Natural Cycle for Fertility” to a program called “Happy Birth for a relaxed Delivery.” I purchased the “IVF and IUI Program” and found it to be very relaxing.

I am not exactly the most “zen” person you will ever know. Among many things, I am a teacher, a marathon runner, a musician, a wife, a fur mommy to two high-energy dogs…. I thrive in an environment where I go-go-go. I love to move! But that mind frame wasn’t helping me to manage the stress of IVF. I needed to sit still, wait, and relax. Those are three things that have always been a challenge for me!

So when I saw that the program was only 15 minutes a day, I decided that I had nothing to lose. As it turns out, I look forward to that part of my daily routine and when I feel especially stressed I will make time for an extra session.

  • @rainbowbridge14 - I feel your pain. We were forced onto the bench for 5-1/2 months after our last cycle failed, and it was very uncomfortable. It sucks so much to wait when you are emotionally ready to move forward! I used the same distraction strategy (trained for a marathon) and it was very effective! I hope it helps to keep you busy and balanced at the same time!

  • @katemonster1 - WOW!!!!!! You made a lot of changes and it sounds like it was worth the effort! I also read It Starts with the Egg and made a few changes after reading it. I figured, why not since we're on the bench for 5-6 months anyway. We had a few natural cycles post-ISWTE changes (all BFN of course), and are on the DE route, but I still do the modifications that I made. I guess for general wellness now moreso than egg quality.

Hi Ladies! Sorry for the late post; I was away all weekend at Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg with my husband. We had a fantastic time.

I had originally planned to go off my diet for the weekend, but because I've made such terrific progress (down 33 lbs!) I was good about sticking with it, except for a few adult beverages each night. I'm trying to drop as much as possible before ER, which should be in the latter part of November.

Chiming in on the Fitbit discussion- I recently got the new iPhone 6 and it has a fitness tracker built in with the Fitness App that tracks steps, stairs, biking distance, etc. I can't speak to its accuracy (I'll need to test it with a separate pedometer), but I think it is supposed to synch up with the Fitbit. It had us for 18,000 steps for our Saturday visit to the amusement park.

I looked up the Circle + Bloom program when @RunCC37 first mentioned it and it seemed pretty pricey, but I think I'm going to reconsider after this most recent discussion. What's a few hundred when I have spent more than $50K?

ETA: looked it up and Amazon has Ivf & Iui Mind & Body Program
for $88 so buying it now!

  • Hi ladies!

@RunCC37‌ I forgot to congratulate you on your race. Awesome job!

I just finished my second race in 2 weeks. I ran the half marathon in Baltimore on Saturday. It was horribly exhausting and I ache all over, but it was so worth it. :) I got to run with my best friend and it was her first half marathon ever. I'm so proud of her. My husband and cousins ran it too. Now I'll be taking some time off in preparation for my FET in November. I'll still do some running - my goal is to keep exercising and stay healthy - but I won't overdo it.
