Financial Aid Programs?

Hello,

So my husband and I have been having some crazy financial problems for the past few months. Our bank account has been stuck in the negatives and we're barely living paycheck to paycheck. I'm trying to find a job while pregnant but I've had no luck yet. He's in the military but we haven't had any luck with programs that will help asap. Does anyone know of any programs that offer financial aid assistance? Even if it's only one time help? We need something asap, I feel like I'm drowning in stress :'(

Re: Financial Aid Programs?

  • My husband makes too much money to qualify I think :/ we have thought of that though, thank you

  • I believe the income limits for WIC are a good bit higher than for normal aid. I don't know many military people who aren't on WIC.

Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this. ;)

  • Some city's have a number you can call, where I live it's part of United Way and is a three digit number, but you could possibly just try calling United Way (if you have one close to you). The one here gives people numbers of places that may be able to help financially or through other means such as food pantry's and such. We live in the church (as my husband is clergy) and frequently get calls from people looking for assistance, so calling church's may also be a good place to call, but be prepared for many no's as far as financial assistance, but they may be able to point you in other directions or even be able to help with other needs such as food. Depending on what your local food bank is like they may also be able to help with food. Where I live the food bank in town allows anyone emergency food boxes a few times during the year.

  • There's several programs that can assist you but if your DH is making to much money for you to receive any it might be good to revise your home budget...

I just got a seasonal job at Target to help out with bills, a lot of places are hiring seasonal right now. If you live somewhere with lots of retail stores around, chances are that most of them are hiring for the holidays right now! It's not a lot of money but every penny helps and if you do well there they might keep you after the season is over.
Also, since I'm only 19 I was limited to what I could do as a job but if you're older look on Craigslist for receptionist or office jobs. There's new posts for jobs like that every day and even I got interviewed for a few.

  • Seasonal jobs or waitressing may help with some finances.
