A has been complaining about stomach discomfort since last night, and been passing these wicked farts but wouldn't go poop on the toilet. Then this morning she tried to poop and was screaming bloody murder the entire time about how badly it hurt. Now she's relaxing in a bubble bath and still hasn't gotten it out.

I know the tricks to keeping a kid regular from this point on, but is there anything I can give her that will help with this upcoming bowel movement, or does she just have to power through and get it out?

Oh, poor A! They make stool softeners for toddlers, but I'd talk to a doctor first. Otherwise, I'm not really sure. My mom used to give us something vile for constipation, but I can't remember the name. Something oil...?

Yogurt usually works for us to help get things moving with my daughter.

But she usually has to power through it to get things going.

Is she too little for miralax? It would soften the stool, though it usually takes 2 days tho kick in.

A couple of prunes usually helps E pretty quickly.

i heard things with p are supposed to help with poop like pears peas prunes etc. Also, like always water.

Yup, prune juice and lots of water. If its really painful call the doctor and check on a stool softener or something stronger. Poor kid...Hope she works it out soon!

I usually give straight fruit juice and prunes baby food. Constipation sucks. I think I'd rather battle diarrhea!

I always got constipated as a kid. My mom was always giving me enemas. Sucked big time.

My mom used to give me maybe a teaspoon of honey mixed in warm water. She says the honey was supposed to have a bit of a laxative effect, plus it was a great way to encourage me to stay hydrated. I just did a quick lookup of the honey as a laxative thing, and it looks like there might be something to it.

Along this line-the Zarbee's Naturals cough syrup (dark honey) helped M poop well. But he's not constipated...so not helpful

Nope. Doctor told us to give her a suppository, which J is getting right now.

I told @stringy813‌ we were all secretly scat fetishists, but she didn't believe me. Maybe now this will be proof enough.

On the plus side, she is feeling a ton better now and saying she has no more stomach discomfort, so yay for that. 

Oh and then we got to talk about how our bodies are amazing and sometimes work really hard so that we can have good things happen like feeling better, or like getting a baby born (I want her to be prepared to see me in pain since I will be laboring at home for as long as I can this time around).

It just would have been really cool if I wasn't likening my toddlers horrendous pooping experience with labor and delivery.

I can hear it now, you will be in labor and she will ask if you want an enema to make baby come out faster. Glad she fells better!
