1st Trimester

Just got my first BFP!

We started trying literally two weeks ago. I had a preconception appointment two weeks ago from today & tonight, I got a positive first response test followed by a positive digital test. I am completely freaking out! I expected it to take like 3-6 months!!! Any tips for a newbie? I dont even know like what not eat, drink, etc.

  • amelyse39 congratulations and welcome!! There are apps that you can download and look up literally everything before you eat it to make sure it's okay to eat. Mostly just no raw fish/meat... sushi is out :(

  • Thanks @Scorpio! Do I need to schedule an appt with my dr? I saw an OBGYN a couple weeks ago but I dont know that I really like him. Is it normal to call and see a midwife or nurse practicioner?

Yes, you need to schedule an appointment with your doctor. Normally they won't do an appointment until you are 8-10 weeks. In my case, I am actually waiting until 12 weeks to get into see someone that I want to see.

I am not familiar with the process of using a midwife or np, but I'm sure it's somewhat of a similar process.

If you plan to go back to an OBGYN then I suggest you try to schedule with a new one if you don't feel comfortable with the one you saw -- you will be with this doctor a lot over the next 9 months!

Congrats! You don't need to change your routine very much if at all. Just listen to your body.
Fresh sushi from a reputable place is definitely not a no. You are pregnant not made of glass.
Find an OB you like and they will most likely schedule you between 8 and 10 weeks pregnant. Good luck!
