Cloth Diapering

Do you get what you pay for with CDs?

What I mean is--Kawaiis seem to get a lot of love on here--they are definitely cheaper. Do they leak (or fall apart, etc) more often than a more expensive brand?

Why pay for good mamas if a Kawaii is going to be great?

Are cloth diapers kind of like brands of clothing (some fall apart easier than others and some are just expensive because of the name behind it) ?

Re: Do you get what you pay for with CDs?

  • Some cheap diapers are made of cheap materials. Some are cheap bc they are made in China, sometimes under unethical working conditions.

  • In don't have any Kawaii, but I will say with the l diapers I've bought more $ doesn't necessarily mean better quality. I have some SoftBums I paid $23 a diaper for two years ago that still look almost new. My BG that I paid $18-25 a piece for at the same time have relaxed elastics and shot aplix. I bought a babykicks that was shot after less than a year of use.

  • I don't think you can compare a Kawaii to a GM because they are totally different diapers.

I would tend to agree with this. Aside from the pocket vs fitted issue, one is a mass produced inexpensive option while the other is a significantly smaller operation. I think it's important to think about what you're willing to pay for.ndo you want to do cloth as cheap as possible? Is it important that it be ethically manufactured? Do you want to support a WAHM? Cost isn't strictly about quality of the end product.

  • Tough question.  I have some "china cheapies" that are made by a charity organization to benefit an orphanage in China.  My Assunta covers were all very inexpensive and they are seriously the best covers I own.  I LOVE them and I could seriously see someone being able to use just these if they needed to save money.  I tend to buy mid range diapers like Grovia and BG, and they are good.  But in my honest opinion Kawaii are just as good as BG, its just that I don't like pockets...lol.  With all things you just have to decide how much you're willing to invest once you find the diapers that work for you.  I'll pay $45 for my favorite work at home mom, but its hard for me to swallow spending the money for a tots bots or blueberry AIO when I just don't love them as much....even though some people love them like crazy.

  • I'm not the right person to answer this really, because my kawaiis are my expensive diapers!

But, there are other thins that go Into cost besides the quality. BG has lots of cute prints, kawaii is not know for that. BG does tons of marketing, kawaii basically none.

You hear about BG diapers with shot elastic and terrible aplix all the time, but not with kawaii. This is likely due to the fact that if a kawaii elastic dies, you could just buy a second to replace the diaper and still have spent less than on one BG. But BG get so much love they are worth repairing because of resale value.
