We just got home and everything went fine, although he's walking a little funny since he's a bit sore. They gave him a sedative before the OR and it made him high as a kite and he was being hilarious, which really kind of helped de stress the situation a bit because you couldn't help but laugh. I'm just glad it's done and laying happily in my arms watching Curious George. Thanks for all the well wishes and positive thoughts!
That sedative is a trip, right? DD had surgery around 11 months and they gave it to her and she went from crying to giggling and pointing at things like a drunk person in seconds. Hilarious.

@jellybean529 That's exactly what happened. He was a wreck once the nurses started coming in and touching him but the sedative turned him into a happy drunk. He kept grabbing my phone (I was letting him listen to a story) and smashing it up against his nose saying "Pigface!" and laughing like crazy. Now I've been calling him Pigface.

@eyenigh So glad it went well. H is having his surgery (tubes and adenoids) Friday. I know its for the best but I'm so scared. This thread made me feel better.
@EMarieMe What really helped for me is that they didn't do the IV and all that right in front of me before they took him back. He took the oral sedative so he was more relaxed (well, high) and then the anesthesiologist came and talked to us for awhile and then she carried him out. It was very nice and not too clinical that way. He came out of the anesthesia fine, too. He didn't get sick at all He just woke up and got very excited that he could have a popsicle.
@eyenigh Same deal, loopy drugs and IV in the surgery room. H did puke all over the place afterwards. Otherwise doing okay. My Mom is taking him for a stroll around the block and he's eating and drinking fine now. We had to reel him in from a game of running in circles around the dog, so I think he's feeling pretty good.
Thank you for sharing your story. It calmed me down.
