Jumperoo vs. Exersaucer

What are your thoughts? I'm trying to decide for DS and the reviews are pretty split. So some first hand experiences would be helpful. I'm not sure which would be better, but I'm thinking it's about time for one or the other. And I'm not crazy about getting both since it already looks like BRU threw up in the house.

Re: Jumperoo vs. Exersaucer

  • If I had it to do again, I think I'd do the exersaucer - I have a jumperoo and my sitter has the saucer, and I think my kids preferred the saucer.

  • We had a jumperoo for the boys and (idiotically) got rid of it. I'll probably get another one over an exersaucer.
  • We had a rainforest jumperoo with DS1. He pretty much lived in that thing. But I sold it thinking we wouldn't have any more kids. Now that DS2 is here we just went out and bought him a baby einstein neighborhood friends jumper yesterday. So far he is enjoying it. He can stand it for about 10 to 15 min before getting fussy. He likes staring at all the toys and it is very colorful. He isn't really reaching to play with the attachments yet but we have only had it for less than 24hours so I think it is a success so far. I don't know anything about exersausers, sorry!

  • Thanks. I do think the jumper looks easier to clean, especially with our dog running around.
  • Anyone have a certain one their kids liked and could share a link?  So many choices!
  • We use the jumperoo. I had the FP Laugh and Learn with DS1 but DH didn't store it well and it got nasty so DS2 is getting a new one for Christmas. Not sure which one yet, but it'll most likely be another Fisher Price one. Whichever one I can get the best deal on.

Our old one was Baby Einstein brand and I think we started putting them in it at about five months. We had to use an extra blanket folded/scrunched behind the baby because the seat part was too big at first.
  • My LO is almost 15 weeks and we put him in the jumper yesterday. He has good head control but I still put a blanket behind him to fill in the huge gap from his back to the seat. Also, I put a book under his feet so he can reach the bottom to push off of more comfortably. All depends on if you think LO has good head control and is ready. We bought this one at target.

  • We got the Fisher Price Jumperoo Rainforest Friends and just put DS in it for the first time today at 12 weeks! He LOVED it! We had to pad the seat with two towels but he is long enough to get a little bit of a bounce going. He was content in there for almost 20 minutes before he got tired!
I'm going to try putting a book underneath his feet like @SaVi925‌ said! That's a great idea!

  • Aww, now I'm excited to get DS a jumperoo!!
  • The thing I really liked about the exersaucer with DS1 is that when he was older he would pull up to stand at it & play & cruise around the outside.
  • I just bought the Luv U zoo jumperoo from someone second hand that had only used it about a month. DD doesn't get anywhere near touching the ground, though, so it's just sitting in the office for now. I think eventually I'll get an exersaucer, too, because I'll want something in our bathroom that she can go in when we're getting ready. Right now we keep the RNP in there and it's a lifesaver having something to keep her occupied.
