help me

Yes this is cheating but I am not good at this. So I do paid studies sometimes cause it is easy money and well who doesn't like that. ANyhow I have a study coming up that they asking we do the following: words and any other artifacts to express your ideas about an IDEAL OBSTETRICS OR MATERNAL FETAL MEDICINE Hospital experience. Please take a bit of time to consider what’s most important for you to know and experience with the provider you have, or would choose, for obstetrics care during your delivery. Then find some images, words or anything else you’d like to bring those ideas to life. Please come to the group with three contributions. Anyone want to help me come up with images or words? I have some but they seem to typical

Re: help me

  • My three words would be comfortable, patient-centered, and hands-off.

If I were ever to go back to a hospital to give birth, my ideal scenario would be more comfortable than my last.  I would like to be able to push in whatever position is comfortable for me instead of being told I had to lie a certain way.  I would like to be able to get into the tub and deliver.  I guess I would hope that the staff would have my comfort higher on their priority list than their own comfort.  I mean, I know it's not comfortable for the doctor to deliver a baby while sitting on the floor, but if leaning over the bed is what is comfortable to me and the only position in which the doctor can help deliver is on the floor, I would hope that he or she would be willing to oblige me.

That goes along with being patient-centered.  I'm an individual.  I may need certain things during labor to make it easier for me, whether it's dimming lights or not wanting to have a monitor attached to me the whole time.  I am the patient and I have a right to refuse certain intervention.

Finally, I would want my care to be hands-off.  Leave me alone and let me do my thing.  If I want to stand in the corner and moo like a cow because it makes me feel better, leave me alone.  If I want to get in the shower, leave me alone.  Don't interrupt my zen so you can poke and prod me.  I just want to do my thing and have you there in case of an emergency.

The more I think about it, my ideal scenario could never take place in a hospital, so you should probably disregard all of this.  lol
