UOT 10-16

Re: UOT 10-16

  • I HATE all zombie movies or shows.

I'm terrified of them. My dad is super into all things Horror, he turns my parents house into an outdoor haunted house during October - with all kinds of animatronics and gory shit. He's been into it forever.

When I was little, he used to take me to this duck pond in Staten Island, NY and across from it is this REALLLY old cemetery. He  suggested that we go look at it and being a kid and into scary stuff myself I went. We walked into the cemetery and I went ahead looking at the old tombstones, I turned around to look at him behind me and he acted terrified and screamed and pointed behind me and yelled "THE ZOMBIES ARE COMING!" and then he ran towards the car and left me.

Totally scarred for life. I laugh about it now, but I can't have anything to do with zombies. I know people love it, my husband does.. but even the though of catching a glimpse of The Walking Dead stresses me out.

  • I cannot stand when adults say "use your words" to little ones that obviously don't yet have the words to tell them what's wrong.
  • I also let DS watch tv...pbs is on in the background all day and he actually likes Curious George and Sesame Streetimage

I'm confused, is this unpopular opinions or bitchfest?  Either way, whatever.  It's obnoxious when people use "soandso and I fishing/posing/swimming/eating/whatever".  It's not correct.  In that instance it should be me, because if you took out "soandso" you'd be left with I.  Which sounds stupid.
    Wait. What?

I thought "John and I went fishing" is correct because if you removed John the sentence would be, "I went fishing"
But you've got the "went" in there. There's no "went" in alyssa's example.
    Ohhhhhhhh

I just learned the rule in the past 3 years so I'm hyper aware of trying to get it right. I always used I and felt like me was never proper. oops.

I don't know if @jensavicci is real or not (leaning toward probably real, but the absence has me wondering)but if she is, I feel bad for her. Her wife joins and gets hit in the face immediately with the cheating stuff, then this. Maybe I'm being too sensitive, but I do feel kinda bad for her.
I'm with you. If she's real I feel bad for her.

Assuming they're real, you feel bad for Jens or the wife?  Because I don't feel bad for one millisecond for calling out someone for cheating on someone.

  • Well this got away from UOT. But if someone had a group I'd join..That is with the ppl who actually contribute and stuff. I'm still ducking from the crazies.
  • I also never read the fifty shades of grey books. I didn't see what all the hype was about :-/ I'm just not into that type of reading.
You didn't miss anything they sucked.

I don't like Nicholas Sparks novels/movies.  I guess despite being married, I'm not much of a romantic.  Take me to see an action/comedy.  And for books gimme some urban paranormal and I'm happy.  I just saw Nicholas Sparks has movie based on book #5836584765 coming out and I was like, blah.

I thought The Notebook was pretty 'meh'

I read the book and watched the movie. Not impressed.

  • @ADC1979‌ I am also not a Nicholas Sparks fan. I have a friend who is so obsessed with his books/movies that she just moved to Wilmington, NC because that's where many of his books take place 8-}

  • My uo, i have never seen breaking bad and have no desire to.

Also, i hate Facebook but am to addicted to delete mine. It's just a huge political/My way of parenting is better/I'm so special because i did this platform. I'm just sick of seeing people who i thought was smart posting anti vac things and trying to talk people into not vaccinating, and people posting crap about how kids need to be smacked to be respectful, and how everything is a conspiracy.

The problem with Nicholas Sparks books is they're all so similar. Once I had read a couple, all the heart-wrenching got old and repetitive.
I had to stop reading Jodi Picoult for this reason.

  • @MSUDucks that will be stuck in my head now!

UO: I also don't see what the big deal is about the walking dead. It's just another damn zombie show...so what.

Ditto Jodi Picoult. I loved her and then I got tired of reading the same formula over and over. Maybe if I went back now it would be okay since I think it's been years since I read one of hers.

Me, too. I noticed I read about all the different Eskimo words for snow in like, three of her books. I am on the hold list for her new book, though!

I watched two episodes of Walking Dead and learned that Zombie Apocalypse is my irrational fear. I got so upset just thinking about it. I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of the will smith zombie movie. Legend?
