Twins

After their multiples have been born did you ever get the question"did you know you were having twins?" How do you answer this?

I say no it was a suprise but what are people expecting you to say ?

If they are asking after they are born... First that is just a weird question. But second, isn't the answer just simply yes? It sounds like they are asking if it was a surprise AT BIRTH.

I also say I found out at 7 weeks at an ultrasound. I am pretty open about having done IVF so if they ask more questions or "are they natural" or "were you surprised" I usually just tell them it took 15 years and lots of fertility treatments and so we knew that twins were a possibility.

People do ask dumb questions and regardless of their motive, I think that they aren't trying to offend so I usually just answer honestly. I have actually met several people struggling with infertility as well this way and people have all been sincere in their happiness for me when they find out how difficult it was to get our pair.
