Third trimester grouches!

So I'm officially 2 weeks into my third trimester, and as a FTM I am really surprised by how much of a difference I'm feeling between 27 weeks and 29 weeks!

27 weeks: I felt fine, almost normal again, except for the baby kicking and rolling like crazy.

29 weeks: UGH
- Belly has really grown
- Insomnia because I CANNOT get comfortable
- Slight case of restless legs if I sit for too long
- Feels like I pulled the tendons on the insides of my vagina so it sort of hurts to walk
- Hormone resurgence, feeling moody and slightly irrational again (probably because of the LACK OF SLEEP)
And the scariest for me:
- Occasional bouts of dizziness

I keep worrying about developing preeclampsia (even though I don't have the typical warning signs - not obese, no family history, eat well)...

Do you think it's a good idea to buy a blood pressure cuff? That way I can take my blood pressure manually at home every time I'm worried, and I saw they're only $22 at the local drugstore.

Also I will VERY SOON be pushing out a tiny baby girl into the world, and I will have to take care of her FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE. Oh, man.

Anyone else noticing changes?

  • I feel like I'm there already an am only 25 weeks :( This didn't happen until way later when I was pregnant with DD!

If a blood pressure cuff would reduce your anxiety, sounds like it might me worth the $22.

  • I'm with you on the painful walking. It's making me really nervous about how I'm going to feel by the end. And it's just now getting somewhat uncomfortable to sleep.
I know! I live in a 4th floor walk-up - I can still handle the stairs just fine, but I may not be able to a few weeks from now. My mom and MIL kept worrying about the stairs thing and I kept brushing it off as a silly concern, but yeah. I think I spoke too soon there. At least we're planning to move in the next month or two, and a manageable staircase or an elevator building is probably going to be mandatory.
  • I remember last time thinking, I can't get any bigger, I can't get any more uncomfortable, I can't be any more tired... but alas you do! My discomfort started way earlier this time but I am hoping it just sort of evens out for the rest of this pregnancy! I know I will get bigger but I would be okay with that being the only issue!
  • 27 weeks today and the last three days I've felt like I just want to cry for NO reason. WTH?!? This whole pregnancy thing amazes me... you can't predict anything and just when you think you can, it changes. I hope you feel better and get some kind of sleep in the next 10 weeks!
  • I have that sharp pain/pulled tendon feeling, too.  But I've had that for the past month or so.  I'd buy the blood pressure cuff - if it gives you peace of mind, it's worth it.

27 weeks today.  Lately, I am ready to cry some days, though, because I had kept my weight gain in check up until about a week/week and a half ago, then boom - it just jumped about 5 pounds (I'm starting off overweight & have been trying to keep total weight gain to about 20 or max 25#, but that feels like it just went out the window!!)

'm feeling extra stabby with DH lately, because I swear he & our dog are trying to push me out of bed each night.  Every time I come back to bed during my lovely "gotta go pee every 2 hours at night" routine, I SWEAR they've inched over closer to my side.  GRRRRR!!!!
Myles was so pumped about the baby . . . until he figured out he'd have to share all his toys!!!

  • I feel like crap. I'm trying not to complain, because I know it is going to get consistently worse for the next 2.5 months.

Heartburn, pelvis pain/SPD, hip pain, super emotional, soooooo tired, random nausea....
But the kicks and squirms are great :)

  • Almost 28 weeks. Still feeling pretty fine. Hard time sleeping sometimes. I get dehydrated easily and start cramping in the legs and belly at times. Swear I gotta chug water like crazy.

Besides family history, I don't have any of the risk factors either. Sometimes it can happen with none. If you feel like it'll help relieve anxiety about it, why not? But if your BP is always fine at the doctor, I wouldn't really worry.

And yes, I'm definitely noticing I'm getting more uncomfortable. my stomach has grown a lot in the past few weeks and sleeping is uncomfortable. I'm also noticing a big increase in heartburn, which SUCKS.

  • Yes the heartburn! Wtf. It's horrible and for the most part I don't even eat foods that normally cause heartburn.

I'm way uncomfortable when I sleep also. And super cranky. @bkmama-I'm in a 3rd floor walk up and I've had issues with the stairs for months now. Takes all my breath away!

I'm super cranky these last few days because of this cold though. Whatever you do, don't get sick. :(
  • I had heartburn after scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast :/

I've never had heartburn in my life! Take it awayyyyyy.

Yes. This. Omg. It's the most annoying thing ever. I actually got out of bed last night to come sleep on the couch so I could sit upright more. It actually helped. I'm banishing myself to the couch again tonight for sure, and any other night that the heartburn is bad.

Hey guess what's for dinner tonight? Chili! As per DH's request. I made it for him but I think I'm going to have cereal instead.
  • The sleepiness is insane. I feel like First tri all over again lol. Except, I don't sleep as well at night and now I don't really nap. Everything irritates me and makes me stabby. Luckily, Chris is very understanding when I'm like "We're having taco salad for dinner only we're not because now the thought of cooking makes me wanna vomit. Enjoy your cereal."

So glad I'm not the only one feeling stabby and cranky and sleeping like crap. Pregnancy with DS was a cake walk so I never felt like this.
  • I bought a blood pressure cuff even though I've always had low blood pressure.  I've been worried about pre-eclampsia too, so I use it whenever I get worried and it eases my mind.  Plus I don't get so nervous every time I go to the doctor now.

Pregnancy heartburn is awful. Water is the worst offender for me. Water. WTF?

I started taking nexium and it has been a lifesaver. If I had a match, I am pretty sure I could breath fire.

  • My back has started hurting every day. Sitting upright at my desk has become very uncomfortable and I end up in this weird sideways position with my feet propped on my guest chair by lunch time.

I am at a work conference all week and sitting all day has been killing me this week. We are in a gorgeous location though and when one of my coworkers was trying to find someone to take a walk with her by the lake, I jumped at the chance.

This!!! I've never even thought of the possibility of having heartburn from water! Now it's constant!
    Smells give me heartburn -_-
  • Heartburn has made me stop eating. After lunch I just don't think it's worth it! And I already haven't slept in months. I'm only 25 weeks but super irritable. Add migraines to that mix and it's a wonder my kids even get fed!

Well now I'm nervous! I keep thinking why do ppl hate being pregnant so much, its not too bad so far. Well I haven't had any serious complications that some ladies unfortunately have. But apparently my time hasn't come yet. I'll cross my fingers over the next few weeks. I'm still hanging out at week 25. At least you're so close to bring done OP. Every once in a while the parent for forever fear does strike me. I'm thinking, its gonna start and never end. Holy crap!
    @-)
  • YES, heartburn. It sucks! I've noticed yogurt or ice cream helps calm it down for me, but it's still such an uncomfortable feeling.

Random bouts of nausea also - I did not know this would come back in third trimester!

Woke up feeling under the weather this morning, congested and exhausted. Hoping I don't get sick.

At least I know I'm not alone! We're almost there, we can make it, right?

  • Definitely buy the blood pressure cuff. DH and I both track ours every night along with checking blood glucose levels 2x/day and it's amazing to watch the patterns of how they're affected by stress, exercise (or lack of), eating habits, how well you've been sleeping, etc. Neither of us are overweight or considered high risk for high bp or diabetes but we just like the peace of mind of monitoring and it reaffirms how the things you do really affect the numbers and your health.

  • So between the heart burn, this horrible cold, my aches and pains, my bladder issues, etc, I've been complaining a lot.

But then, the baby just started kicking so hard in one spot over and over and I pushed back at her and we had a little game going. And it made me so happy and excited. And I forgot about my heartburn and my cold for 3 whole minutes :)
