Can we talk toddler glasses? (xp from 24mo+)

DD suddenly started crossing her eyes last Friday. We have been petrified that she had a brain tumor, but ophthalmologist found today that she's farsighted. I guess all little ones are to some extent, but she is more than others (+4.0 in both eyes) and since she's crossing it means her eyes are working too hard. So, she'll need to wear glasses all of the time. It makes me sad because she will hate them, and because she has beautiful blue eyes that will now be hard to see. But I'm glad we're getting her help, and I'm SO relieved this is the problem. For those of you who have been down this road, any tips on helping LO to adjust? Any recommendation of brands or types that won't look awful or break all the time? Never a dull moment in parenting!!

  • No experience on my end, but my cousin's daughter has been wearing glasses since she's a toddler and she loves them (she's 7 now). She also looks super cute in them.

Good luck finding something cute. I'm sure she'll look just as adorable as ever.

  • Good luck to you! I was diagnosed as farsighted by age 3 AND I had to wear a bandaid eye patch over one eye for a while. I liked glasses when I was little and was able to move into contacts at about age 10/11. What I like about farsighted vs near is that I can choose to focus or not, even without my glasses.
