SAHP- How do you fill the day?

So technically I'm not only a stay at home parent because I am currently caring for another infant in my home from 12-4 and work outside of the home from 6am-9am....but right now the infants sleep a lot. How do I fill the time? House hold chores just aren't cutting it. I am used to being on the go constantly and this is a huge change for me. What do you do to fill the time? Fun things? Productive things? Anything?

Re: SAHP- How do you fill the day?

  • SAHP until January.. but I've been working on crafty stuff for her Baptism party, and then I have to work on her Halloween costume. Once that is done I'm planning on attempting to open my etsy shop again. It's hard though to work between her naps and it for sure takes me a lot longer to get things done.

  • Uhm. School work, papers, my dissertation.

And let's not forget the mind - numbing gazes off into space. I think these consume more of my time than the school work.

I'd love free time to do whatever. As soon as I do something or start it, DS seems to wake up or have a fussy/clingy/non-stop nursing day. Whoever said getting married was like a ball - and - chain obviously didn't have kids.
  • I'm taking a language class online (to finally finish my undergrad degree!), we're moving at the end of the month (so I'm packing boxes when I can), and DD is very active and AWAKE during the day. So that's pretty much my life these days.

  • @jessafish‌ I started writing a novel for NaNoWriMo last year and got about 1000 words into it before I found out I was pregnant and got distracted...

I'd love to finish it one day! But yeah, currently no free time.

  • Laundry, make bottles, run errands, play with DS. Cleaning takes a back burner. Because dude wakes up every time I go to do anything productive.

With Christmas approaching I've been spending a lot of time when I can making Christmas presents.

Today I made apple pie bourbon. I've made solid perfume and apple butter and I plan on making jam, tinted lip balm, coasters etc.

Otherwise its just baby stuff and staying afloat with whatever I can household wise

    And Netflix.
    and bake.......

  • @babybell22 I wanted the decorations to be cute and pretty cheap- I'm going with the colors pink and gold. So for centerpieces I'm doing a giant 36" balloon with different ribbons attached to it and held down with a big pink Z (for Zoey), I also made this tissue paper tassle garland and I'm working on a fondant cake. This one below is my trial run and is a smaller version. I'm sure I will try to do some other random things lol only a week and a half til her baptism! :)

  • @beff12‌ that would be lots of fun. Everything I do is easy because I like instant gratification so I want whatever I make to be done quick. Except the alcohol infusions sitting for awhile.

  • Other than basic household chores, we usually get out of the house for a play date/park/indoor toddler gym so my 2.5yo can get his wiggles out early. I exercise every day, which can take up a good chunk of time depending how you work it in. But between feeding the kids and myself, keeping them in clean diapers, naps, etc. there isn't much free time!

  • I go to Target far too often, play with the baby, feed her, clean house, laundry daily, walks, yoga, I go to a new mom class, and did I mention I go to Target :)
  • Wake up, nurse, I drink some coffee - he plays on the mat, nurse again, morning nap - shower, nurse, go outside for a bit, nurse, nap, nurse, hubby plays with him as I cook dinner, nurse, bed time.

Obvi diaper changes are mixed in and lots of talking & playing.

I took a new moms group that lasted 8wks, that was really helpful. I also have friends and a cousin who have had babies in the past 3mos.

  • Man I wish I was able to ask this question. 3 kids and a home business. Every waking minute is filled. But I get what you mean. Being home all the time can make you stir crazy for fresh air. We're on the go a lot too. I don't stay home everyday to cater to nap times. I just go and cross my fingers the baby will hang in there with us.
