Ahhhhhh Keenan just slept all night long and it was glorious. Especially after the previous night when he was up from 12:30-4 just wide awake and I made the mistake of not going to sleep until 11:30.
I'm starting to feel Baby Sydnee kick. I had to pee yesterday and she decided then was a good time to kick me in the bladder. 3 times. I was excited for this to start, but now I realize I have like 19 more weeks of being beat up from the inside. Silly baby.
Today is a deadline at work for all of those people who didn't file their tax returns by April 15th. We have like 20 returns still in our office that have to be finished. Everything is on my bosses' desks, which means I won't have much to do, but I know I'll need to stay late in case they need any changes made. It's gonna be a long, boring day. But our Office Manager made us breakfast and they'll bring us lunch, so there's that.
@sparkymcgeee Haddock's alarm clock isn't always exact but I can usually count on him to be awake by 7:30. Sometimes earlier and sometimes later but usually only later if I snuggle him and pretend that I'm still asleep.
It's weird though right? If I had no job and no kids to wake me I'm sure I would wake up at all different times. Maybe not. I don't know. I've never really been in a situation where I've been able to find out.
My SO should have had the payroll information to me by yesterday. He still doesn't have it to me and I'm slowly getting more irritated with every minute that passes.
DH got a raise yesterday! A pretty significant one too, like 20%. He's finally making about what he deserves. He had be talking about looking for a new job because he wasn't that happy with where the company is going, but this may change things.
My mom just used the word "whatevs". I told her she's a grandmother and too old to use that word. I guess with 2 teenagers in the house she's bound to pick that stuff up, but still.
So you guys, I read that whole freaking fruit snack thread the other day and holy moly it was ridiculous. I'm still reading the parenting thread and the other AG is banned thread and geez a lou I don't know if I'll get through it all if I do my job. I haven't even read more than two or three pages of the baby butt thread. Too much is going on around here to keep up!

Recycling: Strike 1
Payroll: Strike 2
Not looking good for Mr. Hoddocky today
I was thinking the same thing! I might change the locks
He just got the rest of the payroll to me because I called him and harassed him for it. I'm sure his guys would love for Friday to come and there to be no paychecks, grr.
@haddocky, I also had to be the one to take our recycling out this morning. I was annoyed and it's sunny and warm here today.
@cuterusaurus, I will say that some of the best money DH and I have ever spent was when we hired movers. It's so worth it to have them move everything instead of us dragging it on forever.
This might need its own thread, but at what point (if any) would you start getting concerned about how frequently your childcare provider gets sick? Our nanny told me today she thinks she has a cold coming on because she's getting a sore throat. Great. She just missed 2 days of work not even 2 weeks ago for strep throat. She's worked for us 11 months and has probably missed work 10-12 times because she's sick. And there have been more occasions on top of those missed days where she was sick but came in anyway. Jackson's only been sick once, and DH and I average 1-2 colds a year so this seems excessive to me. What do you guys think?
DD had her first dentist appt. She got her three teeth cleaned. Cried the whole time. Everything looks good. I was concerned that she will not have enough room for all of her teeth. Dentist said that we won't know until she is about three. So now I don't have to worry so much. Oh no cavities don't have to go back for six months.
Happy hump day to everyone. Sounds like babies are sleeping better, but DD. She is waking up twice a night to eat. We were sttn for so long. Today she is refusing food.
@redrocksmama What does your contract say about sick days?
Foolish DH & I didn't do a contract with her so we have nothing in writing about sick days. When I hired her I told her I'd give her sick time as needed, never thinking she'd be sick all the time. I want to address it with her, but have no idea what the norm is. What do you do with sick days for your nanny @econmama?

Stuck in box!
We give our nanny 5 paid sick days during the year (saying we would buy her out of them at the end of contract year if she didn't use them all as an incentive not to be sick! we also pay for a flu shot for her). Above that she would have to use vacation time (2 weeks for the year, plus days we don't need her) or take unpaid time off. We have not had any issues and this seems pretty standard in our area.
I know there have been years that I have been really sick and seemingly constantly. This is hard. I would address this at your 1 year anniversary and make a contract- it can just be a page long word document. If she really has been sick, it could be to her credit for taking the time off so as not to get your LO sick. Does she have an underlying health condition? Do you think she is just saying she is sick?
I like that idea. I may run it by DH and see what he thinks. There have been a couple of times that I was very suspicious about if she was actually sick or not, particularly the incident 2 weeks ago. The other times it's been obvious she was sick and I was glad that she wasn't here to expose LO to it. I asked her a couple of months ago if getting sick a lot was normal for her and she said yes. I don't think she has an underlying health issue, but I don't think she takes care of herself very well so that is probably contributing to it. I've offered twice for to pay for a flu shot for her and she refuses because she "doesn't like needles".
FFWC- Liney is in LOVE with Yo gabba gabba. She dances during the entire show. I know people hate it and think it is annoying, but I secretly like it, too. The songs are catchy and it's a quirky/weird show. I'd watch yo gabba gabba over Dora anytime.
Amen! Dora creeps me out staring at me while waiting for an answer.
I just don't like Nickelodeon for my kids. Except for Bubble Guppies and Backyardigans. Those two I'm okay with. Other than that we're Disney people. I'm okay with this. I secretly love the Disney shows too.

Omg, I've been over on pro boards reading all about it. Craziness.
I'm very interested in the idea that you can't mention other pregnancy boards or message boards without the threat of immediate ban. Is anyone else also interested in that?
Are we only allowed to mention BabyCenter repeatedly because we make fun of it?
This Ebola shit is pissing me off, for real. On so many different levels. I am ragey. Not because I am worried about contracting it. But because the healthcare system has dropped the ball so many times over this disease. I am ragey for those two nurses who now have gotten sick from helping one patient. Only two MSF workers have contracted the disease and MSF have treated thousands of people with disease, in field hospitals in Africa. Stupid incompetence. X(
Between kids and pets, I only got 45 minutes sleep. (:| after skipping a nap because everyone has been sleeping decently. :-S go figure.
After science class, we are headed to MIL's. I need much patience and some energy. I got a SB hot chocolate. It was good, but I just want to nap now. :-<
I think the sick day thing is tough. On one hand, you don't want her exposing LO to illness. And, depending on how long she has been a nanny, there is often 1 -2 years of high illness when you start working with kids - even if they personally aren't sick a lot, you are around more kid/environments and pick more up. I also have a DH and DD that are prone to picking up lung things no matter how cautious we are and how many precautions we take. Flip side, of course, is if she isn't taking care of herself or calling off if she is just "tired sick" instead of sick sick. Depending on her vaca time, I would give a certain # of sick days for next year (5-7 depending on if she gets vacation time she could use if needed). Other choice would be after so many days, she needs to bring a doctors note (like if she has missed 5 days for the year and says she is sick again, then she needs a dr note). Like pp suggested, I would figure out what works well for you and go over it at your annual. Some of us, unfortunately, get sick more often than others. Also, I think how tolerant I would be would depend on how great or only sufficient she is when she is there.
Hopefully that makes sense. GL!
I desperately want to move. I just don't want to take anything with me besides the kids.
Using the Diva cup for the first time today, woo hoo! Am I supposed to wear the little diva pin that came with it to celebrate the occasion?

My husband's little cousin is 17...well, I guess she isn't so little anymore, but she is so damn emotionally immature. She has been dating a guy for five months now, and he is leaving for the Marines. She is heartbroken and feels like nobody understands her because he is the love of her life. Ya, that would all be fine if she didn't already have five boyfriends in the last year alone. And each guy was "the one".
Sounds so much like my 16yo niece. And they don't realize in ten years they are going to look back and roll their eyes at themselves.
Had my first pumpkin Reese's of the season. It was delicious and I'm glad I only bought one instead of a whole bag.

@eaglewife holy crap! The Cards aren't doing as well as the Royals so even though they've had more success in the previous seasons I am not expecting an all out dominance or anything. Royals are doing an amazing job in this postseason. They are a force to be reckoned with. I still really want to make my "I bleed purple" shirt though.
I don't understand all of the drama. Soooooo much. Bannings, Non-BJ BJ, pissed off mods, I can't keep up. I need someone who is completely in the know to lay it all out for me in bullet points because there is just too much to keep up with now.
Alex has a fever, is teething (molar I think), cranky, cuddling and stage five clingy. I hope its just teething causing this and he isn't getting sick.

Same here. Just kept crying and crying. Even at dinner. My good eater disappeared on me a few weeks ago. I'm assuming it's because he hasn't been feeling the best but it's terrible I never know what to feed him. Hope Alex feels better soon!
