Kensington Marie finally arrived after 30+ hours of labor, by c-section, on October 13 at 5:37 pm! My labor was pretty horrible, but she's perfect.
I woke up around 10am on Sunday, my due date, and within minutes my water broke. I posted on the random thread (sorry labor buddy!) to see if anyone had a secret to getting to the hospital without a mess. It's not so easy!
By the time I got there at 11:30 I was contracting, but still not dilated. My previously perfect blood pressure was off the charts high so they were fairly sure I had pre-e and wanted things going fast so we started pitocin. (Turns out it wasn't pre-e. They don't know why it jumped so incredibly high but over the day it came down.)
Things picked up fast with pitocin but I was still making it without drugs like I wanted. I was having back labor all day, and after 12 hours the nurse and OB guessed we were getting past those initial cm to active labor (they were limiting checks through the day because of the risk of infection). But when they finally checked I was only 1 cm.
I lost it. 12 hours and it felt like nothing, while labor with increasing amounts of pitocin was becoming unbareable. I tried to keep going but I had lost confidence and it fell apart. I was a mess and caved to the epidural around 3am. Getting the epidural was not easy for me. I screamed in crazy pain while getting it placed. Then I shook violently for a few hours while DH slept.
My epidural also didn't work well. As they kept upping pitocin, the pain was radiating up my back and neck, which the epidural obviously couldn't help. Then I started feeling contractions in my cervix and butt, and no matter how they upped the drugs, it wouldn't stop.
Early afternoon Monday, my OB came over from the clinic and checked me - still only 3 cm despite the frequent, strong contractions.. He said he wanted to give me a few more hours being as aggressive as they could augmenting, but if there was no change we had to get her out. There was no change, so I was told we had to go get the baby.
They took us in quickly and were "sure" the drugs they put through my epidural had numbed me... But halfway in I found there was an area completely not numb. So I felt a good portion of my c-section... Opening and closing. Apparently
Very rare and not cool.
Turns out I have a freakishly small pelvis and my baby girl's smaller than average head was stuck, so for two days I tried to push her through a spot she was never going to get through. Her poor head was super swollen but it's come way down and is already looking much better. I was still on the OR table when my OB told me any subsequent kids would have to be immediate c-sections because I'm just not built to deliver.
Definitely not the plan I had going in, but she's out and healthy and it's over. And I'm recovering pretty well so I'm focusing on that.

What an intense labor and delivery experience too! T&Ps for a fast and easy recovery.
I felt part of my first csection too and it was terrifying. If it's any consolation, I didn't feel anything during my second.
