Anyone dealing with constipation?

Poor baby keeps getting constipated. This is day five of no bowel movement. He went five days about two weeks ago as well. The doctor says to just give Karo syrup or juice. Anyone dealing with this? If so, do you know the cause. I'm wondering if Zantac is to blame. Also any remedies you can share?

DS won't take juice or purees at this point. Makes things challenging.

No Zantac here but he was in pain from constipation so we put a couple tablespoons of organic prune juice in a bottle once a day and that keeps him regular.

I should rephrase. He just hasn't had a BM in 5 days. He's starting to act uncomfortable and didn't eat well at daycare today. He's breast-fed. The same thing happened two weeks ago and he finally had a BM that was normal according to LO.

LO was stopped up this last weekend and we added karo syrup to his bottle, only a tablespoon to each bottle twice. It worked like a charm. We had tried the apple prune juice in his bottle but that didn't work. Poor guy was trying to so hard to poo and couldn't go, I felt so bad for him!!

If it's been 5-6 days, we do prune juice in the bottle. If a couple more days go by after that (and unfortunately that has happened twice), we do a baby suppository. That works in about 20 minutes but I only use it if it's really been awhile.

We had to change DS formula because of this. And 2 oz of pear juice had done the trick!

The dr says it's no big deal since he's EBF but it worries me. Been 6 days now.

This happens to us sometimes too, and he does start to be really uncomfortable around five days!  My pediatrician said to give him 2 tsp of brown sugar mixed with 2 ounces of pumped BM.  (Or formula).  Once or twice doing that has worked every time.  (Usually have to do it twice, a few hours apart.)
