BF + sick = question (and panic)

Ok, I have strep.

The immediate care doctor indicated LO could catch it through my milk. Is that true? The doctor said "he's seven months? His immune system should be good enough that breast feeding doesn't hurt him." Cue freak out.

Okay, I did some google research when I got home from picking up my meds. The dr and pharmacist assured me the meds are fine, plus I did my own LactMed search. I also did some research, and it seems I'm good to keep going. (Of course, also stumbling across some articles that nursing your baby sick, medicated milk is better than giving him the chemycal poison we can formula... Oh. Ok.) Even kellymom says it's okay -- this falls under minor illness such as sore throat (duh) and not like surgical.

I was directed by my doctor to keep nursing through both strep and the stomach flu. I'd just make sure to mention to any doctor prescribing you with meds that you're nursing so they give you meds that are safe!
