A Lurker Intro and Question :)

So I've been lurking on this board since when I found out I was pregnant and have learned so much from you guys!  I had my DS in August and have hit the ground running with cloth diapering from the get go.  We absolutely love it!  A little bit about myself...

I'm 27 and DH is 26 and we just had our first baby boy on August 1st.  I am an Autism teacher for kids in grades K-5 and my husband is a pharmacist with a local grocery store chain.  I love lounging in my sweatpants with a glass of wine and snuggling my little guy.  I love chocolate and ice cream...and chocolate ice cream.  AND, most importantly, I've already caught the bug and must buy.all.the.diapers!

For my birthday, my husband bought me a serger to fuel my sewing obsession so now I have the itch to make even more inserts now that I can finish all the edges and make them all pretty

Has anyone made snap-in inserts for BB shells?  I would love to find the best way to do this (best fabrics, dimensions, etc).  Any suggestions?

@TJ1979  Thanks for pointing out where I can find that tutorial without searching for the original post!  I've seen it come up before and have made a bunch of inserts that way that work so well!  Great tutorial

@ovenrack  If you made BB inserts do you think you would make them contoured or just a plain rectangle?  Would it affect function very much?

If you're brand new to your serger, contoured is more difficult.

@Into+the+Kitty  This is a random serger question...how do you finish the stitching at the end so that it doesn't come undone?  Such a dumb question haha!

I either just overlap the beginning and end then trim, or if it's a linear thing that I can't overlap I use device like a needle threader to thread an inch or so of the tail through the serging.
