Typical day

I know we talked about this awhile ago but now that our babies are older, what does your typical day look like (schedule)? What activities do you do through out the day with lo?

Re: Typical day

  • Up at 6 or 7 and has a bottle

Snuggles with Mom and sometimes we fall back to sleep together.

9-10 bottle and plays in room while I get a few things done.

    Storytime

    Cereal before next bottle

    Bottle about 1:00

    Nap(usually a longer one mid-day)

    4:00 bottle

    Plays in exersaucer or playmat.

    5:30ish cereal

We have dinner at about 6:30

    Bottle between 6-7 sometime

He takes a mini nap somewhere between 7-8(he has a later witching hour. He gets grumpy minimally during dinner, but mostly between 7-8.)

    Plays until bedtime

    Bottle 8:45 and to bed

We don't have a set schedule by any means but DD has her own little routine depending on motn feedings. But she's up by 6:30 and will eat every two hours. So our days are like this on repeat until bedtime:

    6:30 up and eat
6:30-7 either watches cartoons (bad mom I know) while I clean up the kitchen
7:30-8 naps for about an hour
    8:30 eat
    9:00 play time
    9:30 half an hour nap

Repeat above until 8 pm when she gets her bedtime bottle and is down by 8:30.

But in between feedings depending on her mood she's either in her jumper, doing tummy time or walking around the house with me. And I sneak in a nap and cuddle time in the afternoon :-)

  • Up around 6 am - feed DD
7:15ish - DH leaves for work and to take DD to my MIL's where either she or my BIL's longtime girlfriend watch her. I get ready for work and leave around 9.
9-5 - work like a maniac. Gotta bill those hours!
5:30ish - get home, play with DD.
7:30 - put on PJs, read, put LO to bed.
8-10 - make DD's bottles for the next day, then work more from home. Some nights I'm lucky and can just have a beer and stare into space.
    10 - bed.
  • Sorry this post is more about my schedule I guess. Wish I got to stay home. :(
  • Our schedule mostly revolves around the toddler

7.30ish both kids wake up, nurse DD2, snuggle in bed for a bit while DD1 watches Sesame Street (also bad mom here)

8.30-10am eat breakfast, get everyone dressed and ready to go, nurse DD2

10-11.30am go to DD1 activities/park, DD2 naps in the carrier

11.30-1.30 get home, nurse DD2, make lunch (DD2 hangs out in bouncer) , eat lunch with DD1 (DD2 hangs out in high chair)

    1.30ish DD2 goes down for a nap

2ish DD1 goes down for a nap, I get to relax for an hour

4ish kids wake up, nurse DD2

4.30-5.30/6 go to park, sometimes DD2 takes a catnap in carrier, sometimes she doesn't

6-7.30pm get home, make dinner, nurse DD2, eat dinner, clean up kitchen, clean up living/dining room

    7.30pm start DD2 bedtime

    8pm start DD1 bedtime

    8.30pm SLEEP!!!

  • My daughter is in daycare five days a week but our weekends look like this:

Up anywhere between 5-7am depending on her loud 2yr old brother and/how she slept at night. Nurse

Plays for about an hour, tummy time, bumbo, me or DH on the floor with both kids, etc

    Half hr nap

Usually get out for errands or something around 9-10. Nurse before leaving house

She will nap while out and about or if we don't got out every two hrs or so she needs to be put down. So basically all day is a sleep, nurse, play cycle in repeat.

Depending on her nap length and timing she is ready for bed between 6-7. Nurses before bed. Wakes up 2-4x per night to nurse or cuddle.

Ours is still pretty random. So this week it looks like this:

8:00 up (yay no more 5 for now but that's because I put her in the rock n play around 5 or 6 to try and get more sleep out of her) feed, diaper, dressed and also bad mom cartoons :) just while I get a couple things done like feed the dog.
After I give her some oatmeal and we play for a bit.
9:00 start nap and nurse usually asleep around 9:30 and sleeps for about 30 minutes but I have to hold her.
    10:00 play or run errands
11:30 nap for anywhere from 30 min to 1.5 hours. She's had 3 days since Thursday that she's done that so hoping it becomes the norm.
12 or 1 depending in how long her nap was she might eat or we just play.
Then she usually naps between 2 and 4 for 30 minutes to an hour max. Eats before nap and will have 2 short naps if the 3rd is close to 2.
5:00 play with daddy rice cereal
    6:00 bath pjs stories prayers
7:00 bedtime she usually gets up a couple more times to eat before finally going to sleep between 7 and 8.
Wakes between 10 and 12:30, 2 and 3:30, 5:00 and 6:30. So 3 wakings. Every once in a while she will skip the first one. That's always nice! She used to always skip it then the 4 MW happened.

  • You guys aren't bad Mom's for letting your little one watch TV! I feel like it's only an issue if kids are sitting around watching TV and on iPads ALL DAY!!! The TV catches my LO's eye all the time so he watches minimal amounts, too. They have great baby videos on you tube that are visual stimulation. LO loves them.
  • During the week:

6:30-7:45: DS gets up, dressed, maybe a bottle depending on whether he had a MOTN, play, maybe watch baby Einstein while the adults get ready.

    7:45-5:30 - DC

5:30-6:30: play with mommy and daddy. Could be bouncy chair, tummy time, baby Einstein, exersaucer.

6:30-7: bottle, get ready for bed.

    7: bed

    Weekends-
up anytime between 6-7, bottle, play

8:30ish - bottle, nap anywhere from 1 hour - 3 hours. Sometimes he doesn't got down til closer to 10.

11:30 - 5: get dressed and go out for day. Nap in car/stroller while we're out, bottle every couple of hours. If we stay in, we'll alternate between bottle, play, nap, every 2 hours. He naps for an hour up to 3 hours depending on the day.

    Evening routine is the same.

@hbird05, we're on a similar overnight schedule.    Sometimes he goes back down after his 5ish wake/feed, but other times not.   So his nap schedule varies accordingly.   I feel like we're still far away from having naps take place at certain times of day.
