So I know we all still have plenty of time to decide on names, but has anyone picked names and feel like you've settled? Me and my SO have decided on Maycee for a girl and Landon for a boy. I'd love to hear what everyone else is loving!
Well, considering you already posted on the board I moved this to then you should have seen my reason for choosing that spelling. My name is Rhiannon and that probably looks illiterate to some people, considering 9 out of 10 people cant even pronounce it and I have no issues with it or with it affecting my ability to get a job because of my resume.

Landon is NMS, but it is a legitimate name. Maycee looks horribly misspelled. Remember that you are naming someone that will one day be an adult who has to put together a resume. Maycee looks like a good name for a puppy.
I didn't ask for your opinion. read the question. I asked what everyone was naming their babies. I shouldn't have included my choices in here I guess because there's always gonna be people like you @kyliedaniellexx

Okay. No one here seems to feel the same "love" for your girl name. Sorrynotsorry.
And most, *most* couples don't really decide on a name it seems until into 3rd tri. And I've known plenty of couples who decide last minute, when holding their baby for the first time, what to name them. I know that's what MH and I ended up doing.
I could care less that you don't like it. it's the rude ass comments that bother me. i'm not that kind of person to make someone feel shitty about one of the most wonderful decisions they will ever get to make if that's what THEY love it. don't like it? cool. move on because I don't care. as for other people and what they do, good for them. we chose our first childs name around 16 weeks and still to this day love it just as much as we first did and get a million compliments on it all the time. i'm glad we didn't listen to other people because it's our kid. sorrynotsorry
I happen to love the name Maycee, just not the spelling. I have a different name and it's a pain growing up with a name you have to spell out every single time to everyone. So I don't really use it, I use my nickname. No offense, just personal experience. ;-) I'm going with Wes for a boy and Brooklyn for a girl :-)
I seriously LOL'd that you get so many positive comments on Macee. Are you telling them how you intend to spell it? You do realize that 99% of people are going to tell you "oh, that's so cute!" even if you said you are naming your kid "Butt Nugget". People really don't care, and most prefer to just be polite to your face no matter what the name is. Seriously try it sometime... next time someone asks what you are naming your baby tell them something crazy like "Braxlen... it's a family name" and I bet they nod and smile.
Macy is not so bad. It is too cutesy and trendy for my taste but it's really fine. I think I'd prefer Molly or Katie or something more along those lines only because I always think of the department store Macy's or Mace pepper spray. Macee is a bad misspelling though. You can't compare it to Rhiannon. Rhiannon is just underused so people misspell, but it is the real spelling of a real name. It's a great name! Now, if you spelled it Reonnnin, then yeah the two are comparable and I would assume your parents were illiterate. I hope you consider Macy or perhaps even Macie over Macee. Just a suggestion though, I doubt I'll ever meet you or your baby and honestly if I do I will just say "Oh what a cute name!" like everyone else and never think about it again.
We have a list of names picked out but want to meet our baby first. All are classic names and middle names are family names. We aren't finding out the sex until the birth so we will just have a short list for each and spend a few hours with him or her before naming.
I actually couldn't remember just how badly it was misspelled... so I guess I meant "Maycee" instead of "Macee". Either way, you would be doing your daughter a great service to consider Macy or Macie instead. Or even better, a longer professional name like Marcella nicknamed Maci for short. Or perhaps Marcy. That is sweeter to me.
Nobody is hating on the name, just the ridiculous made - up spelling. I can tell you for a fact that teachers will be rolling their eyes at each other when they see your daughter's name (spelled the way you want to spell it) on their class lists. They will make assumptions about your intelligence and your parenting. It's not right, but it happens. Spell it right.
@cko521 - YES this is exactly what I mean. Btw, Piper is a lovely name
You can literally spit out any name, probably even an obscenity, and most people will be caught off guard and react with politeness. So I think it's so funny when people say "well you all are wrong - everyone IRL loves it!!" No, honey, they don't. Not that popularity should be your #1 deciding factor, but there is something to be said about not naming your daughter Viper lol
