Cloth diaper shopping!

Hi mamas and mamas to be! This is my first pregnancy and while I have most things sorted out, cloth diaper shopping is giving me nightmares! I was wondering how many cloth diapers should I buy and what will be a good place to get them in bulk? Appreciate your help! Thanks!

You want about 36 changes for the NB stage to allow you to wash every other day (EOD). And at least 24 changes after the NB stage.

Where you buy somewhat depends on what you're buying. If you're doing prefolds or workhorses (fitteds) and covers, Green Mountain Diapers is great. Other stores like Abby's Lane and Sweet Bottom Baby offer free shipping on all orders. Nicki's Diapers is also great and has free shipping over $75.

I never did a newborn trial or rental, but some stores offer that, which is nice.

I'm sure I missed some stuff, but others will probably hit all the points.

Don't forget to get wet bags for when you leave the house. I'd say you want 3. Also you will need a place to put wet/dirty diapers at home. I use an open plastic trash can with a pail liner. I would say you need two pail liners. I like planet wise for both wet bags and pail liners.

FTM with some advice: only buy small quantities! That's my biggest regret. I got an entire stash (24) of prefolds, 6 workhorses and 6 covers. I now (DD is 7 weeks old) have found that my husband and I really like AIO's. I did SO much research and thought I was all set with CD'ing. It's amazing what you learn and what you like and don't like based on your LO's size and shape. I wish I had saved my money so I could buy more AIO's.
