I'm gonna start this today because I just did my second 1-hr glucose test and came up with 161. Which I knew would happen. Ugh. So now I wait for the 3-hour. Super duper. I really don't want to be compliant with a diet plan. Boo. I know, I know. I should feel lucky that I've made it to 30 weeks without having to worry about it. But, it's Monday, and I am cranky, and I just went apple picking, and I want to make (and eat) so many pies. Boo, I say. Boo.
Re: GD check-in 10/13
I'll add myself to today's check-in.
Found out today that I failed the three-hour GTT. I am officially marked with the GD diagnosis. I have no plan yet since I've had no medical appointments; I've just been told that I'll have to go "low carb" and meet with a nutritionist.
Really not looking forward to the restriction associated with GD but I'm sure I'll get through it, along with all of you!
And I am not allowed to have milk as per my nutritionist
I didn't start to feel like crap and fall apart until I started this stupid GD diet. I had zero problems until now. Now I am hungry all the time, moody, cry for no reason, etc.
Is it the GD diet or is it just the 3rd trimester?
I'm two weeks into watching my diet/monitoring my levels, so far so good. They said if I continue to have stable numbers after this week I can cut back to testing 2x a day.
I did however lose 2-3 pounds over the last 2 weeks, and now for the first time my belly size is on the 'small' side of normal range
I'm definitely eating less, but never feeling hungry.
At my 30 week u/s baby was measuring in normal range, but now I can't help but be a little worried that the baby is still progressing on track. Would diet affect that? And could it that quickly? I'm getting another u/s at 35 weeks, it's so hard to wait to make sure everything is ok.
I thought I stop by and check-in since it's official with the GD diagnosis with me. I found out last Thursday that I failed the three-hour glucose test officially from my obgyn office. I knew earlier on Tuesday when I got the results online just waited for the call... The obgyn nurse called and told me she was faxing my paperwork over to the Diabetes Institute at the hospital. They called me the same day and now I have a 4 hour class on Friday that I'm taking from 9:00 am till 1:00 pm. So I have no idea where to start until the class really but I did buy more healthy foods and trying to understand the whole carbs thing. It just so hard when I go to work and people bringing in sweets everyday and I can't have them now
It just been a stressful month since my mom just found out she needs a hip replacement too the same week I found out about my GD diagnosis. She goes on October 29. She is my support person for my class since DH needs to work since I've been losing hours since I wasn't feeling good and I guess it was due to this.
Sorry for my ranting just such a kick in the face of going on this diet when it's my favorite time of the year with food offerings I can't indulge in now!
After 1 week the NP already warned me that when I go back this week if I am still showing numbers higher than 90 for fasting I have to be put on insulin.
My biggest fear is being diabetic after pregnancy.
Tonight I made pasta with meat sauce for everyone and instead of pretending be content with the lousy portion of noodles, I cut up eggplant, baked it, melted mozzarella cheese on it, and put the meat sauce on top. Seriously so so good. Didn't even miss the noodles. Woohoo!
I also replaced pizza dough with eggplant the other night. Yum!

ain't that the truth about the hormone surges. All of a sudden my numbers are wonky. It's so freaking annoying.

And all my numbers were super low today. My after breakfast number was 54. FIFTY FRIGGIN' FOUR! I had very much the same breakfast I've had before with numbers in the 90s, so I have no idea what that was.
So yeah, sometimes you get weirdly high numbers, sometimes weirdly low. Gotta love GD.
Because I'm on meds I start weekly nonstress tests and biophysical profiles this week. My MFM office starts then at 32 weeks for more high-risk patients.
