Subchorionic Hematoma

Hi Ladies,
My doctor recently found through an u/s that I have a subchorionic hematoma and I'm 9 weeks along. She said she thinks everything will be fine and that as baby gets bigger, my body will just absorb it. I'm not even having bleeding but some really bad cramps down low on my right side. It even put me in the ER last week. I just wanted to know what your experiences with sch are and if you took any extra precautions. I've just been really nervous about it. Thank you so much!

Re: Subchorionic Hematoma

  • I had one with my second pregnancy (currently pregnant with my third). They usually go away within a few weeks, but mine stayed for six months. I was told not to do anything strenuous or have sex. My baby was fine and weighed 10 pounds when he was born (perhaps I took it too easy

  • They found mine at 7 weeks and I have had some bleeding. No special precautions were given to me but I try not to lift anything heavy. My Dr doesn't seem worried so I try not to stress over it. I am 10 weeks now, so hopefully it's gone. Good luck to you :)
  • I have a small one too. I've had some cramping and spotting on and off throughout my pregnancy (I'm now 11w4d) and had to go to the ER as well. My doctor gave me no restrictions and did not seem concerned at all. It stresses me out though so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is okay- next US is in a week! Good luck to you.
  • Found mine during this pregnancy (3rd) at 7w4d. It was on smaller side and was gone by 10w ultrasound. (Doc had been pretty confident that they're semi normal and they usually go away on their own). Told me to refrain from sex & exercise - don't lift anything over 20 lbs. Never had any spotting or bleeding.

Did your doc order a re-check ultrasound?

  • Hey ladies I've had some moderate cramping over the past 2 weeks and had an ultrasound and appt with my doc today and he found the same thing. He put me on serious rest, not bed rest. No cooking, cleaning, lifting, shopping or errands, sex, etc. I'm bummed as I have so much going on this month but obviously it's for the best. Lots of crafting to come! I'm nervous but I'm glad I'm not in this boat alone and hope this gets re-absorbed like they mentioned.
  • Glad I ran into this. I was told I had this at 6 weeks... I'm now almost 11weeks, and I've had 3 days of brown and light spotting within 3 weeks. Cramping I've had the whole time... But it makes me nervous every time... Guess it's normal with this
  • I wasn't diagnosed until almost 15 weeks and i bled.....a lot! It's scary just hoping that it goes away. It's been almost a month and baby boy's heart is still beating, and he's kicking up a storm!
  • I was diagnosed with a large (10cms) sch at ten weeks. I spotted for 6 weeks with cramping then it stopped. I am 18+6 now and feel her wiggling every day :) They are so much more common than I thought!
  • Whoops! Forgot to mention that my GPputmeon bed rest for 3 weeks but I genuinely don't think it made a difference. The obgyn said no sex and no lifting.
  • I have been going through this for a while. I was diagnosed with this at the very beginning of my pregnancy around 5-6 weeks with a loss of a twin. I have bleed a lot on and off, sometimes with severe cramping too. I am a little over 19 weeks with a very healthy baby, but still spotting occasionally. Everything is finally starting to heal and reabsorb. I got put on weight and work restrictions. Also the doctors put me on a progesterone to help.

It's nice to know we are not alone. Also every one's doesn't heal super quick and easy either. So don't worry if it takes a while unfortunately.
