Help me write a persuasive speech

Due Tuesday. I'm sick and can't think of a topic because of all the snot in my head.

If it comes down to it, I can opt out, but then I have to do a speech to entertain later in the semester. 
I'd rather do the persuasive speech over the speech to entertain.

I don't go here, but there's some interesting research about why it's better to spend money on experiences rather than possessions, as far long-term contentment. I just read a good article in the Atlantic (I think) about it.

I'm pretty neutral about most things. 
I do have my own opinions about things, but when somebody has a different opinion, I try to understand and accept it rather than argue about it.

I don't feel passionate enough about anything to write an entire speech over it. 

I have no hills to die on.

I take that back: I die on hills when people do not correctly use car seats.
But I fail to see how that can be turned into a persuasive speech.

I JUST read an article about how most parents are already making carseat mistakes when they leave the hospital.  You could write about how hospitals should make car seat installation inspections a service they offer.

What about persuading people not to turn the car seat around ff at 1 year or to wait until at least 2?

Oh, you just reminded me! I did that one when I was in nursing school. I did adopting a pet (vs buying pure bread) and did all the statistics on available pets, health of mutts vs purebreads, bad things about puppy mills etc. I may have done it specific to dogs but I cant remember.

Actually I started writing a "why you should prep" speech. But I didn't want people IRL knowing I'm a prepper and coming to my house when SHTF.

JK...

But it's the only thing I could easily keep writing about.

I was considering skipping this one, but I will keep writing to see what I can come up with anyway.

Was I the only one that thought this was going to be about the organization of the speech (counter claims, rebuttals, appeals)?

I was all stoked to talk about logical fallacies and given-new transitions.

Eh in a nutshell I'd outline an argumentative speech as such:

General statement and background on topic
Your claim and supporting reasons for your claim.
Presentation of evidence for supporting reasons (stats, data, expert opinion, etc)
Presentation of counterclaim
Rebuttal of counterclaim(s)
Conclusion.

There is a concept called Given-new that I think makes for nice transitions. People who say "First" or "Also" and just jump to random shit piss me off.

Did you have to find sources for the assignment or integrate any research? Honestly if that assignment is as simple as write a persuasive speech then disregard all the crap I've said here.
