fingernail HELP!!!

We have the biggest meltdowns over the cutting of fingernails and toenails. DH literally has to hold him down while he screams bloody murder. We've tried singing songs and asking him to help and showing him how we cut our own fingernails and still we have meltdown city! And I've never even nicked him!
Any suggestions? I don't want th is to become a traumatic experience for him every time!!!

Yes but him falling asleep in our arms and/or staying asleep when we adjust him is becoming few and far between and this little grower need his nails cut more often than that! Maybe my problem is that used to be the only way I did it and now he's afraid of this contraption that cuts his nails off. Can't go back in time and fix that though!

I also have to do it while she sleeps. I let her fall asleep on my bed so it's easier access for me.

DS's nails get so long sometimes bc I don't get to clip them often. There was one time I clipped them after he woke up in the morning and he let me do a few nails. Maybe try that when he isn't fully awake. But he gets a dose of fluoride before bed so I will get a few nails as DH teases him with the dropper. He loves taking his fluoride.

Have you tried using scissors instead of a clipper? We have a pair that looks like a bird and do this little piggy while we clip.

We clip nails right after the bath when they're super soft.  She "brushes" her teeth (chews and sucks on the toothbrush) and usually that distracts her enough that I can do her nails.
