Awesome Halloween idea!

https://blog.foodallergy.org/2014/10/06/the-teal-pumpkin-project-for-an-allergy-friendly-halloween/ Paint a pumpkin (or fake pumpkin) teal along with a sign advertising to parents of children with food allergies that you also have non food treats available. I'll totally be doing this this year!

It all revolves around you.

  • One year I totally skipped doing candy and handed out pencils (cool patterns/colors not the plain boring yellow ones) and they were a hit with all of the kids.

  • What is a good allergy free treat to hand out?  I'd like to have an alternative available.

I know they listed a lot of cheap alternatives, but most of them are items I try to keep out of my house, or small children shouldn't have (choking hazards).

They're not cheaper, but if only using for a few ToTers some of the party favors are worth considering.

Temporary tattoos? Party-size play dough? Fun foam masks?

If you have leftovers, save them for next year or donate them to a teacher for the class treasure chest.

  • Our PTO sponsors a Halloween event every year.  We give out goodie bags that are allergy and "candy" free.  We do toothbrushes and toothpaste, pencils, mini notepads, stencils, halloween temporary tattoos, and those rubber wristband things that are usually made to support breast/ovarian/whatever cancer only ours have goofy sayings on them.

Oh and several of our local dentists' offices are sponsoring programs where you can drop off your unwanted/extra Halloween candy, and they will ship it to troops stationed over seas.  If you have extra think about checking into a similar program in your area.

  • You give kids toothpaste for Halloween?  I would SO toilet paper your house for that.

I heard someone say this about giving out pencils the other day. And they were serious! Wth? It's free stuff!

Its for a PTO event, not for actual Halloween treats. But the kids do like it. So I wouldn't feel bad giving it for Halloween.

DD#1 got one of these last year and loved it.  As did all her cousins.
