I dd'd. It was a vent, but once I got out it, I didn't feel the need to keep it here anymore. Thanks. I've had a lot of coffee and feel impulsive and a little wired. Exhibit a: it's 2am and I just got done doing doing dishes and taking a shower and now I'm paying bills. 8-}

    @ambrvan How is your DS doing?  I remember that he had an eye issue.  Just scheduled an eye exam for my DS and thought of you?  Hope things are getting better.

    He had the growth removed, and we are seeing the opthlamologist regularly to see if it improves. Nothing yet. If his vision has not improved by October 23rd, then we start patching his good eye to strengthen his bad eye. Out will be challenging because he freaks out when you cover his good eye because he honestly cannot see. But the opthlamologist has really put us at ease, making this seem like not such an abnormal problem and she is confident it will improve.

    Thank you for asking. Is yours going for a problem visit or a routine exam?

    I am glad that you are still hanging in there and have a good Dr.  That makes all the difference in the world sometimes.  My DS has two different astigmatisms, near sighted in one eye and far sighted in the other and he has Nystagmus in both eyes.  This is an ongoing problem.  His glasses have a different prescription in each lens to correct the sightedness.  Our biggest issue is that some how he can see better than his eyes measure so eye exams are a huge PITA.  His vision is improving by not wearing glasses unless he needs to read and forcing him to focus his eyes on items.  I am hoping that with this next exam we will have corrected the far sightedness as we were so close last year.  We went through a combo of patches, eye drops and glasses and so far we are getting better.

    Funny story after his first exam before we realized that he could see better than his vision measured I was told that he could see no closer than about a foot from his face and no more than two feet away and that he couldn't see anything in 3D.  So I got his glasses and took him to the movies because I felt bad.  We went to see Shrek in 3D because I wanted to see if he really couldn't see.  He wore his new glasses under the 3D glasses for about 20 mins and took his off.  I am sitting in my seat crying and beating myself up because he hasn't jumped leaned anything.  On the way to the car after the movie he says "did things come out of the screen at you cause I thought my new glasses gave me super powers."  I almost died laughing at myself and found a specialist that has made a world of difference for us.  Wishing you all the best with the patches.

    No improvement. So were patching his good eye for a few hours each night now. Good thing is that he doesn't fight it. Grumbles a bit but puts up with it.

    We'll go back November 19th for another check. If still no improvement, she'll send us to yet another pediatric opthlamologist.
