Update Nervous for my first OB appt tomorrow

Hello all! My first OB visit is tomorrow, and I am freaking out. I am about six weeks right now, and I am so worried that they will find something wrong on the US. I realize there's nothing I can do in the meantime, but I'm just driving myself crazy right now. I am also not sure what to expect - do they typically do blood work and other testing at the first visit? What types of questions should I ask? Any insight would be greatly appreciated to help calm my nerves until tomorrow afternoon. Thank you!

Thank you all so much for your encouragement. Everything went very well today - the little bean is in the right place and has a little heartbeat. I really like my new OB (this is the first time I actually met him, since my doc of ten years retired last month - perfect timing, right?) My new doc spent a lot of time talking to me and answering questions and made me feel much more relaxed about everything. He even told me it's ok to have a cup of coffee everyday. Woohoo! Based on the US and my BFP chart/date of ovulation, EDD is 5/31/15. It actually is starting to feel more real. Crazy!

I have my first appointment tomorrow, too, and I've been freaking out today, too!. I even got myself crying earlier with fear that the baby won't be alive. Ugh.

Last pregnancy the first appointment consisted of blood work, a pelvic exam, discussion of genetic testing, health history review, listening for the heartbeat, and then an ultrasound. Assuming it won't be far off from that 2+ years later.

I get nervous at every appointment. Good luck tomorrow!

For my first appointment, I gave a urine and blood sample. The nurse confirmed my history, weighed me and took my blood pressure. She also asked if I had any pain or bleeding. I had a culture done as it had been 2 years since my last one. OB confirmed embryo was in the right place and had a HB (and that there was only one) with an US. My first US was an internal one. I was dreading that aspect, but it wasn't too bad. (It's easier if you wear pants and a top, rather than a dress, so you can keep your top on). I got overall counseling on diet, travel, appointment frequency etc. And I was really interested in NIPT, so I asked about that. I think that was my only question.

You'll feel much better once you see the US and hear the heartbeat. Most of us do. Let us know how it goes.

Yep, yep!! I think we were all freaking out! Especially us first time moms! I actually had a list of questions ready and they answered everything before I could even ask! Hope the appointment goes well!

I don't want to hijack your post @ewenner, but just wanted to report back that my first appointment went well. Strong heartbeat at 171 BPM and baby measuring right on track. Woot woot! Sending positive thoughts your way, @ewenner.
