DS got his 4 month shots last night. He woke up once with a 103/104* temp and fussy. He ate, got tylenol, and slept again. Next wake up temp was down and he wasn't fussy. When he went to daycare and came home today he had a temp about 100/101* again. He was fussy for daycare they said, but he was smiley for me, just a little more tired than normal.
I'm just worried because the daycare director said kids don't normally get such high fevers from shots. Dr. said to keep an eye on him and if he's fussy or not eating or wetting to call but that usually days one and two can be bad after shots.
Anyone's LO have a fever after shots? How high? How long did it last?
He also has a stuffy nose so of course I'm worried about the crazy virus thing. But I mentioned it to the dr at the checkup yesterday and he didn't seem concerned.
Re: Fever after shots?
In general some kids just have a tendency to get higher fevers. My son is one of them. If he gets a fever for any reason, it's going to be higher than typical. We see at least one 103 or 104 reading every time he gets sick. Pedi says it's common, especially in kids under age 5.
