Recruiter Q

Had a phone screen with a recruiter, he sent my resume on to the hiring manager. I didn't make the first round of interviews. Hiring manager liked my background but was focusing on candidates with a particular niche and wanted to see how those interviews went first. Recruiter said 'let's plan to touch base next week'. That is this week. I haven't heard from him. Am I supposed to contact him?

I haven't done this in awhile, I feel like I need a rule book.

  • Our process is 3-4 months to hire when we use recruiters, especially. If you didn't make the first cut I think the recruiter is considering you as possible for the second cut, or thinks there might be other opportunities for you. I would reach out next week to determine which is the case, then you will know what is going on. I know that we stack rank candidates and score them, and those who don't score above a certain threshold are out - regardless of cuts in the first selection process. So you should clarify what the process is with the company - do they go back to the stack initially submitted, or do they ask for additional, new resumes?  If they do go back to the stack, are you in the running based on their feedback?
