How do you eat your steak while pregnant

Re: How do you eat your steak while pregnant

  • When I wasn't pregnant I loved a nice medium rare steak. But ever since there's been a baby on board I can hardly even look at meat. I hope that changes after the little one arrives!

  • Rare to medium-rare. I don't eat a ton of meat in general but I like it just this side of mooing. Same whether preggo or not.

Wait. So he's cool with you eating a squirrel but not a medium rare steak?

I know, he's weird. I still ate it, and he got over it, but he just said he didn't know if he was comfortable with it.
  • Literally this has been my hub and I only pregnancy meltdown thus far. We just bought a 1/4 steer for the freezer and he was going to cook us up some steaks. We love our steak medium rare. Well my hub brought me my plate and I watched him cut into his and I threw a fit! "Why do I have to eat mine well done?" "What a waste of a steak! You should have to eat yours this way too!" His response, "Fine kill the baby and enjoy your steak!" I reluctantly ate mine
  • I typically eat my steak medium to medium rare. I don't get my steak from Back Alley Steaks R Us. So I feel pretty good about it.

  • Medium rare t bone. Although I haven't had steak in a couple of months because it doesn't sound appealing right now. I did have some in early pregnancy though.
  • I have mine well done during pregnancy. My husband is a chef, so he knows the dangers of anything less. Even my midwife had a go at me for asking if having medium was ok and told me that anything less than well done is a serious risk to baby.
  • All of this steak talk has me wanting a steak...at 12:31 a.m. damn it guys...
  • Its almost 2am here in Texas what's so weird is that I haven't crave anything I'm 6 mo 3 more to go!!!
  • I picked "SS". I had been eating steak medium rare before this pregnancy but now steak is the last think I want to eat. Really and grilled food is not appetizing to me.

  • I voted well done. I usually always eat my steak somewhere between, medium well and well done depending on the cut of steak, same as when I'm not pregnant. I Make steak and eat it a lot. My body naturally craves it. I have had a severe vitamin b 12 deficiency for years, has been slightly deficient for past 2 years so getting better! Red meat has more b 12 then most other meats. Also while pregnant I have low iron.

  • Used to eat it medium rare but now I eat it medium well.  :(
My doctor recommended that meats be cooked thoroughly & since my husband is a huge stickler to "rules" and he's the one cooking the steak normally, medium well is what I get.  Luckily, I haven't really wanted steak.

  • I feel special; you put a don't eat steak option! Just want to clarify that I rarely eat it when not pregnant anyway so it's not something specific I'm doing for being pregnant.

Yay-- someone like me! No one believes me when I say I don't like steak!
