Disney question...

Hey Disney peeps...

What's the youngest you've taken a child to Disney and they've gotten something out of it? DD wants to go back "one last time" when she's still young enough to have fun, but I'd like to have the baby at least old enough to understand something about the trip...

Re: Disney question...

  • Did you like put him through Disney boot camp? ;) I was thinking we would go NEXT Spring Break, so March 2016? He would be 27 months.

  • I don't have an issue with traveling with young kids, hell he's going to live away from home for the summer...that's a hell of a trip! I just want to make sure he'll have fun...DD didn't go for the first time until she was 4.
  • DD went at 5 months and although she liked looking around and such, she was pretty oblivious.  She went again at 15 months and enjoyed herself and meeting the characters, but honestly, her favorite part of the parks were the little playground areas they have.  It's a good age to go with an older sibling, IMO, because it's about the end of the age where you can drag him around without much of an opinion on where the younger one wants to go.

DD just turned 2, and we've been going to the local amusement park this summer and I would say 22 months is when she really "got it" in terms of picking what rides she did/didn't want to go on and posing with the characters.
  • Your dd must be much more mature than me. I've never not been able to enjoy Disney and I'm 34 lol

  • We went when DD was 2.5 and she loved it. She enjoyed the rides she could ride and loved seeing all the characters. I think he would enjoy it at 27 months.

I think 27 months would be good.  He would definitely enjoy it and get something out of it.  He won't remember any of it but would enjoy it in the moment.

We took DS at 14 months with our older kids.  He had a great time but doesn't remember.  Now at 5 he's asking when he gets to go to Disney.

Our older kids were 3 and 5 then 5 and 7 when we've gone.  I think the 5 and 7 trip was my favorite age to take them.
  • We took our kids when the youngest was about 28 months and he loved it. Even now, a few months later, he talks about it. Nothing wrong with taking them younger, but I thought this was the perfect age - he knew the characters, he enjoyed the rides he could do, he was at an age/stage when it was OK for him to miss a nap (I know that varies by child, but was the case for us), and he was old enough to easily walk without us carrying him everywhere but little enough to enjoy the stroller, too.

  • DS 1 was 25 months the first time we went. He really got a kick out of it. At 27 months he will for sure enjoy himself.
