Best Stroller

What brand and type of stroller do you think is best? My logic I have no idea if it's right being a first timer is that you would want a stroller where you can snap the car seat onto as to not wake baby and then use that same stroller for when they are no longer a newborn?

Re: Best Stroller

  • My sister got this jogging stroller where the carseat snaps in and out of it. I forget the brand, but it's really nice. Eddie bauer maybe? Not 100% sure

  • I bought the Bob and also bought the attachment to be able to snap my car seat into it during the infancy stage. I plan to use it again with this baby....unless I buy the Dualie! It's pricey but sooooooo worth it!

This is really an individual thing because your choice of stroller is going to depend a lot on how often you'll use it, what type if terrain it will be riding on, how much you want to spend, and what types of features are important to you.
I personally didn't need a travel system with the snap in because I never used an infant seat, we just started with a convertible seat. Worked for us, wouldn't work for lots of people though!
I would suggest the book Baby Bargains, lots of great ways info for comparing strollers (and everything else baby)!

  • i always notice strollers on the street now, and baby jogger, quinny and stokke seem to be the most popular here.
i will really need to go to a store and test them all, and see if it fits to my needs, but I really like the stokke xplory, and have read some great reviews on it.
  • I asked her and she said it's the Graco Click Connect Jogger Travel System.  But as @lindsayanne14 said, i guess it just depends on your preference.  They are a pretty active couple so they like the jogging aspect.

  • I have the city mini with the infant seat attachment and love it. It is a personal preference though. One of the best things about my stroller though is the one handed easy fold up. Hold the baby in one hand, fold the stroller and toss it in the car with the other.
  • I love my Peg Perego, but as others have said, it's very much a personal choice. It also really depends on where you live, and what you'll use it for. Ask your friends in the area, test some out, and you'll find one!

  • You really need to figure out several things, where you'll be using the stroller, how often you will use it, will you have another child in the next few years that would make you want a double, etc. Also keep in mind that most higher end strollers have adapters that allow you to use any carseat with them. I went with a standard travel system carseat and stroller. I hate the stroller now that I've used it for two kids. It is flimsy, the seat doesn't sit up straight enough or recline back enough and is difficult to adjust, I could go on! It is an Eddie Bauer, the carseat is the same as the Safety First OnBoard 35 no complaints about the carseat. I suggest going and trying them all out in the store and becoming familiar with the various features and how it feels to you. When I was pregnant with my first I really wanted a Britax B-Ready and a carseat to go with it but couldn't justify the cost. Fast forward to baby number three in as many years and I wish I had splurged!
  • I have the chicco liteway. It's nice because it's a light umbrella stroller but isn't flimsy or cheap like some umbrellas. Another great thing is that the seat will recline all the way for naps. I've noticed there is a chicco liteway plus that allows you to fold the seat forward and attach the car seat. I wish I had this. I used to set the carrier inside the stroller seat which seemed a little precarious at times but I wasn't trail jogging so decided it would be fine. Here is a link: https://m.target.com/p/chicco-liteway-plus-snapdragon/-/A-14263631?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=google_pla_df&LNM=14263631&CPNG=Baby&kpid=14263631&LID=9pgs&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=14263631&kpid=14263631&gclid=CjwKEAjwwdOhBRCG0fPrlfO1gGUSJAC1FmHXhW0Il9Z0KXLKijETQJSmPKW5ShF0dGAxrQqIFCsO1BoC1zLw_wcB I also have a BOB which we use at the dog park or anytime I know we will be on grass or rough terrain. image
I have the one highlighted above and love it!  It is really light and compact.  I recommended it to a co-worker and she loves it too.  It isn't good on rougher terrain, but great for day to day.

I also have the regular Chicco, the Chicco double (heavy), and the InStep Grand Safari jogger (really heavy).  I like them all, but definitely all serve different purposes.  Geez, I seem like a stroller whore!

I've also tested the City Mini(?) double, but the seats seemed so narrow.  I felt like once you got the carseat snapped in there wouldn't have been much room for the other child. It did drive nice though.
  • We've decided to go with the Uppa. It's a travel system, lightweight and sturdy. We feel like you get the best value and the most items for the investment with Uppa as well. After testing about 10 strollers, we like this one best.
  • Like others have said go to the store and test drive them. Some we thought we really liked online when we tried in store we were disappointed. For what we would use it for the most, walking around Disney, we wanted something that will easily maneuver through crowds and would fold easily. Think were going with a type of jogging stroller. Can't recall the name but it's a system.

  • @mbm1983‌ The one we use for my nephew just annoys me. It's bulky for the park. And we jump between all four parks. (We are World not Land.) and it fights us when it comes to folding, have to fold on trams and buses (sometimes), doesn't help that my mother packs waaaaayyyy too much crap for him. If my mom doesn't go we typically don't bring it or we grab the smaller one umbrella one.

  • i'm trying to decide between the UppaBaby Vista and Baby Jogger City Select.  The UBV is better looking, but I think I like Baby Jogger's solution for turning into a double better.

I'm not a jogger, but I love this stroller. So easy to handle and fold/unfold/

I recommend trying out the different types in the store. Push them around corners, fold them, unfold them, click the car seat in and out.
  • I totally recommend the Baby Jogger City Mini!! It's not bulky or heavy. Folds nice so it doesn't take up a lot of room in the trunk of a car. You can get an infant carseat attachment:)
  • I've seen one where you press a button and it folds. Does anyone know what brand this is, and if it's any good? I go shopping a lot(hides in shame), we also go to Disney world every few months.

  • I know I am in the minority but I have the baby jogger city mini and I don't love it. I plan to sell it and buy something else.

We had the infant seat adapter and I felt like it wasn't that secure.

DS is small and I feel like even at 2.5 the straps are on the lowest setting and still high on him.

The storage below is awkward to take things in and out.

Also. Not that I would actually ever jog with it, don't be fooled by the brand name. It isn't a jogging stroller.

  • We have a 2012 Uppa Baby Vista. I love it and plan to sell this one to get the 2015 version when this baby comes. It's everything I want in a stroller. Wish they came out with it 2 years ago. Oh well.
  • @mbm1983‌ ya probably not the best idea to take a super expensive stroller to disney! Also I would like a stroller that folds easy so if I'm out with baby alone I can put it away quickly. I live in Florida where a few years ago this guy was targeting moms at the mall I go to and kidnapping them and killing them.

We travel to Disney from CT 3-4 times a year. We bought the Uppa Baby Gluxe for Disney. Not taking my $800 stroller, plus it's too bulky. When #2 comes we will buy a second. So much easier to maneuver through crowds with a small stroller you can each push. All though I have seen people with 2 kids in the big Vista I have. I jus wouldn't want to be bother having to lock it every time I parked it and worry about it the whole time.
  • I had a peg perego Si. It is a full size stroller that holds the infant carseat, but it folds more like an umbrella stroller than a big bulky graco travel system stroller.

I have a City Mini GT double now and I will be getting the car seat adapter bar for that so I can lug my newb, and have my to-be 3yo confined too.

  • Initially we got the BOB and the infant attachment and it worked great, but the BOB was heavy to get in and out of my SUV.

We  took DS to DIsneyland in July and we got the Joovy Groove Ultralight and I love it. It folds so easily, is super lightweight, reclines so DS can sleep, and cleans up really nicely. It is the stroller that stays in the back of my car.

Everyone needs a stroller IMO, but have you also thought about babywearing? It's how we carried DS all the time when out and about.  He loved it, would generally fall right asleep in it, and it was so much easier on all of us.
  • I have a bob double jogging stroller! Pricey but amazing!
  • with kiddo #1 we got the Uppa Baby Vista and it is a fantastic stroller! It is still going strong after almost 4 years! For babes #2 and #3 we are looking at either the Bugaboo Donkey (but so $$$!) or the Bumbleride Indie Twin. Go to the store and try a bunch out. It is a very personal decision and there is a lot of choice!!

  • Thanks to the recommendations I think we are going to go with the 2015 uppa baby vista. I like all the options it has and the easy folding capabilities! We have also decided to go with the car seat from them as well!

  • Graco snap and go.  Light weight, folds easy, has storage at the bottom and is easy to manuver through a supermarket.  Car carrier clips in.  Then we use an umbrella stroller when baby doesn't fit in the carrier anymore.  Both inexpensive.

We do have a babytrends jogging stroller that the carrier clips into but don't use it frequently.  It's large and heavy, but if we go somewhere with questionable terrain we definitely use that one.

  • Luckily my parents are excited for their first grandbaby so they're buying the stroller for us :) it's Lilly Gold 5 in 1 Sit'n'Stroll. It's rear facing, forward facing, stroller, dining booster, and FAA approved flightseat. I'm excited because it means no lugging around 3 different things when we travel (we live in OK, my family lives in MI, and hubby's family lives in KY and IN)
  • I've decided on the BOB flex. I will be asking my mom for it since it's a bit $$ but I love the easy fold down and the one handed throw-into-place ability. I also jog on a lot of trails and other terrain so I wanted something that could really handle it. I also like that I can make Arrested Development references about it, but perhaps I'm just buy-curious?
  • I have the britax b-ready travel system and got it knowing we would eventually have two. It is a big single stroller (amazing storage below) but a pretty compact double. Kind of a beast to get in and out of the car, but I mostly keep it in the garage for walks. It's kinda pricey but we've gotten a lot of mileage out of it. I really wanted the Uppa but couldn't ignore price difference - britax had a really good deal at the time.

  • I am not a frequent poster on here, buy since I had a hard time with strollers I figured I will give my 2 cents.
When we were expecting out first child 5 years ago we looked at strollers and lived in a city, so did not really consider the weight of the stroller and how easy/hard it will be to fold it and carry. I always wanted an uppababy but it was way to expensive, so after taking advice from my SIL, who at that time was on her third kid said that chicco or peg perego are the best. We went and tried them out and even though I was in love with uppababy we ended up getting a peg perego uno. While we lived in the city and I didn't have to fold it or use a car seat, it was ok. After we moved to the suburbs, it became a lot of obvious that it was a bad choice.
With my second, I got a snap and go and it was much easier as it was winter and we mostly drove, but it would still be nice to have a stroller for long walks and when we went to the shore, so the baby could sleep.
Now that this baby is due in April I am still keeping my snap and go, but I also just got a used uppababy and could not be happier.
I would say think of what you an on doing and how you will be using it and test them out at the store. Good luck!

  • I went to a couple different store and asked if I could "test drive" them. Usually stores will let you bc they want the business...they're really nice if you tell them you're shopping for the whole nursery, even if it's just stroller shopping.
Before you go figure out and possibly make a list of where it will be used and what features you want/would like.
  • mbm1983 said:

Yeah i can see how that would be annoying. I usually can't do umbrella strollers because i'm way too tall for them. They hurt my shoulders and back almost immediately.

We have a Summer Infant 3D lite umbrella, and my 6'3" husband can push it comfortably (I'm 5'9" and it's fine for me too). The most common negative review on Amazon was that the handles were too long, so I bought it :)

  • Strollers are a really personal decision. I researched them obsessively lady pregnancy and decided a City Mini was the best option. I hate it and have only used it a handful of times in 2.5 years. It's too massive to use in the city (a friend aptly called it the "suburban maxi). The wheel base is too wide to fit through the front door of my apartment building, so I have to collapse it on the sidewalk and carry it in, along with baby and bag(s). The basket is practically unusable.

That said, friends who live in the suburbs love it because it opens and folds so easily and maneuvers well.

I had a highly-recommended Maclaren umbrella stroller and now have a much cheaper one that I like far better.

Basically, it's all personal preference. Are you going to be on rugged terrain, wide mall passageways, or cramped urban sidewalks? Will you need to fold it frequently to put in your trunk or carry on public transit? Will you be carrying it up and down stairs a lot? (That was the reason I didn't get the Vista - it weighs a ton). Do you want tons of comfort accessories or a streamlined stroller?

  • I'm pretty sure we're going to go with the Graco Fast Action Sport Click-Connect travel system.  I wanted to have the option of snapping the car seat right into the stroller because my plan is take lots of walks this spring/summer, and the convenience of being able to do that seemed worth it.  I like the look of jogging strollers, but without the jogging price hike, so that's how I chose this one.

  • There is definitely no one size fits all best stroller. For DD we got the Bugaboo Cameleon. I have been very happy with it, but I don't think it is quite worth the $ (though it is a very pretty and functional stroller). It was great when she was an infant, but it's a PITA for travel and not so easy to fold/unfold. We got a Chicco Liteway umbrella stroller when she was about 9 months old. It was originally for plane travel but these days it is often our go-to stroller just because it is so light and easy.

For the twins, I am looking at the BJ City Select, the new UB Vista, and the BJ Citi Mini double. I plan to wear one of the twins and then have DD and the other twin in a stroller until DD is at least old enough to reliably ride on one of those stroller board attachments. I need to do more homework but my impression is the City Select or Vista would be ideal for the first year but long-term the Citi Mini double might be best just because it is lighter and easier to maneuver and seems to combine the best of an umbrella stroller and a full-size stroller...we'll see. I think I am going to sell the Bugaboo.

  • I second all recommendations for the Baby Jogger City Mini. We were able to use it when our son was an infant with the Chicco attachment. It's a great stroller for urban areas, as it's lightweight and folds up easily. 3 years later, it's still in great condition. We'll be switching to the City Select double for the twins.

  • @blueberries8‌ - good to know about the bugaboo chameleon. I am seriously considering that stroller but have been wondering if it's worth the investment especially since the uppababy vista has been getting great reviews. DH likes the wheels and suspension system on the bugaboo but I want to make sure we use our budget wisely. We are really excited first time parents that can easily see ourselves being dazzled by baby stuff that is cool.
