Flu shot shortage?

Has any of your LOs pediatrician's said there is a flu shot shortage?  I know our littles need it in 2 doses, and I keep calling the pedi to get her first dose in, but they just told me she won't be able to (hopefully) get it until her 9 month appt. and the second dose will have to come after.  They aren't even fully sure they will have some by her appt on Oct 30!  Also, my doctor for our flu shots is saying the same thing, they won't have any doses until late Oct.

DD's 9 month appt isn't until Monday, so I can't speak to the baby version, but they gave out free flu shots at my work last Friday with no issues and I haven't heard about a shortage otherwise. Maybe it's regional?

At DS2's 9m WCC today they were only offering flu shots to children under 3 due to limited supply. She said it should be available to all their patients in November.

Huh... we're on the west coast and DD got her first dose almost a month ago, (she's one of the older babies on the board) she'll get her second dose next week. DH got his today, and I'm scheduled for mine at my next ob appt. I haven't heard anything about a shortage here either.

I'm on the west coast too. DS got his last month. We will be getting his second dose next week. They did say there was a shot that did not have a certain preservative that would not be available until October, but it would be fine to give him the normal one for kids under 3.

I work at my daughters peds office. I wouldn't call it a shortage, it's more like a manufacturing slowness. We get a quadravalent flu shot (it protects against 4 strains of flu) and one strain is taking a long time to grow in the lab so it's slowing down the process of manufacturing and shipping the vaccines out to the doctors offices. A lot of places that have the flu shots (cvs, rite aide etc) have the trivalent shots (only protect against three strains of flu). Ps I'm from PA

My DD got her 1st shot at her 9 month app. last week.  She can't have the 2nd dose until at least 1 month after the 1st shot.

I haven't heard anything about a shortage. DD got her first shot 2 weeks ago and will get the second at her 9 month appointment. I'm scheduled to get mine Wednesday.

DH and my doctor office still does not have flu shots.  I am glad my 4 year old already got his.

We could, but I can get them free at my doctor's office.  I have to pay at a pharmacy, at least my husband did last year when he went to CVS, even with our insurance.  They said they are hoping to have it very end of Oct. So, we will wait.  If it starts going into Nov and still no flu shot, we will probably just go to a pharmacy.

I went to the peds today. My Dr. said that they wouldn't get the perservative free one till the end of the month. She said they only give preservative free vacs there. She said pharmacys and other places have it but those one have the preservatives in it. She said it was not a shortage that they are just being slow. So I am just suppose to call back in a week and see if they have it then.
