Fast Maternal Heartrate

I am 39weeks1day and last monday I was in the er with a fast heart rate. After much too much poking and prodding I insisted I go home. This monday I was in for my weekly check up and heart rate was high again. I know my doctor is worried about it but im confused as to why they are allowing me to continue my pregnancy since im so close. Has anyone else experienced this? If so what was done? Any opinions are gladly listened to im a ftm and dont know how to explain to my doctor my body cant handle this anymore? :(

Re: Fast Maternal Heartrate

  • Define high? Mine is 80-90 normally. If I'm in pain or lightheaded it goes over 100. I always thought this was high, but what do I know?

Well then you will get results soon, so, not sure what we can add?

I've had 3 heart holters and echos this pregnancy - echos came back same day, holter took longer as it's a lot of information for someone to weed through.

  • I can feel my heart start randomly racing on and off all throughout my pregnancy. I haven't thought it was a big deal and my BP has been perfect the whole time. I would try not to worry and keep carrying on esp if you went to the ER already.

Seriously?? Don't tell someone to not worry just because they went to the ER one time with something... Especially a pregnant woman. I work on a cardiac floor in a hospital and anyone who's jumping from 120 baseline up to the 180's we ship off to a more critical level of care quickly.

Seriously??? Don't have a go at me, a stranger on the internet for trying to keep calm by saying not to worry when someone is reaching out for support to try to NOT be worried. Esp when someone is receiving regular prenatal care and the doctor is aware of what is going on and didn't evict the baby which seems to be accepted practice even when there is absolutely no reason regardless. I think my 'try not to worry' comment is a little less severe than if something severe is happening and the doctors are missing it. OP's question is WHY they are letting her continue carrying if they are worried about her HR to which I clearly have NO idea, and I know not a damn thing about HR's in the first place.

OP I hope I did not offend YOU and am not trying to tell you not to listen to your body! Just trying to send a friendly vibe to you in this community to stay calm and carry on because worrying/stress will only make the symptoms worse D: Good luck to you and LO and sorry for arguing on your thread.
