infant care classes, childbirth classes

Anyone want to recommend an infant care class or childbirth class in the Boston area that they thought was particularly good? Thanks!!

Re: infant care classes, childbirth classes

  • In 2012, I took the childbirth classes at Boston Medical Center with Anitra. She was a certified doula and we really enjoyed her class. It was only $50 for a 4-6 week class. Free parking after 5 pm too.
  • I can't recommend it, but I'll be taking my childbirth class at Newton Wellesley.  It made sense to me to gain some familiarity with the facility and team there, since that's where I'll be delivering.  I'm all for the epidural, so I have no interest in any specific breathing or hypnosis curriculum - that could change things up for you if you'd like an unmedicated birth (everyone has different priorities).

I've been told by a few people that the staff will tell you everything you need to do to get the baby out of you, so I was seriously considering skipping childbirth classes.  I reconsidered because my father told me he loved going to Lamaze with my mother, so I figure it may be worth the experience.  I'm pretty sure my dad waited in the waiting room while my mum was delivering, so I doubt Lamaze was of any use to him, but if he speaks highly of it 34 years later, something was worthwhile.
