NWMR - Children's Place Coats ?

My LOs have winter coats, but I'm not sure they will be warm enough if we have another polar vortex-type winter (I bought them 2 years ago, before I had experienced what a polar vortex is like) and the Children's Place 3-in-1 coats are really warm.  I'd like to order TCP 3-in-1 coats for the kids to wear later in the winter season, so I wonder if I should size up so they can wear those coats next year also?  Just wondering if anyone can share their opinions on sizes I should get, especially if you're a frequent TCP shopper.  DS will be 5 1/2 in January, and tends to be a little above average in height.  I feel like I should probably get the size S (5/6), but that will probably be too small for next year, but I'm afraid if I order the size M (7/8), he may not be able to wear it at all this year.  DD consistently measures at the 75th percentile for height, so I think if I order the size S (5/6) for her it will be a little big, but ok for next year.  Thoughts? Opinions?  Thanks ladies!

  • I have found their coats to have magical sizing....DD has worn a 3T for three years, and it's being retired in favor of the 5/6 this year, which I expect will also work for next year. I almost always size up on coats and it's never been a problem - but a 7/8 on a five year old sounds big to me if he's not a really big kid. I'd think the 5/6 would fit this year and his 6th year. When DD was 7/8 I bought her a size 10 coat from Justice and that lasted three winters as well.

  • I think it will depend on your kid.  My oldest is tall and thin at 4 1/2 and I will probably get her the Small (5/6).  You also have to account for long-sleeved shirts or sweatshirts underneath.  They fit more snugly when both pieces are worn together.
