Sleeping on the couch tonight

Guess I'll be sleeping on the couch with LO tonight since she keeps rolling over in her crib and crying bc she doesn't want to me on her belly. She fell asleep around 10:30 maybe- around 1 we heard movement in her room and hubby and I looked at each other and said bet she's on her belly. Sure enough he went in there and she was laying on her belly. He picked her up put her back onto her back and she was asleep again. About another 30mins I hear movement and than some fussy and a cry- I go in there and she's back on her belly. It's now 3:03 and we're laying on the couch where she is still awake! This is so unlike her too- last week she rolled onto her belly while sleeping and my husband went in there and put her back onto her back with paci in her mouth and she was good until morning when she normally wakes up.

  • Thanks @jsquaree‌- glad your LO is sleeping good for you- sucky that you're wide awake. She's asleep now and I'm hoping I can put her down in the crib soon and go curl up in bed.

  • Nope- didn't work. Didn't even wake when I got up from the couch but the second I layer her down- rolls to her belly is a wake! I broke down crying- it's been a long exhausting day at work and my legs are all achy and all I wanted tonight was sleep! I would wake my husband up- but he has work in a few hrs where I have more like 10 hrs before I have to get to work.

  • @Helmink0804‌ Hope you are getting some shut eye. I'd probably make the same choice and curl up with LO on the couch for some shut eye. Best temporary idea. Sorry you are so exhausted. We all here can related to that. My LO fell asleep 30 min ago after his MOTN feeding and now I'm wide awake now. :-S
  • P has started rolling around (not full rolls yet), and getting verticle in his crib. Since he's the tallest baby ever, he bumps his head and gets his legs stuck. So. Tired.

We're in the same boat. He was sleeping all night in the swing but last night he was up twice, not sure why. Maybe the coughing wakes him. I'm tempted to just go back to the crib if he's going to be up anyway.

  • Thanks ladies for the support. We slept on the couch from 4:30-6:20 heard the alarm go off for my husband and thought since she was asleep for awhile I could lay her down. Nope- about 15 mins later on her belly awake- back on the couch until her normal wake up time at 10. I did get a few hours- hoping tonight is a better night!

  • I hope tonight is better for you too! Good luck at work today on limited sleep!

  • Thanks @tbiscuit18‌- I fueled up on a lot of coffee before hand! I'm just hoping for a better night to tonight. I don't know what to do to keep her from rolling from back to belly at night.

  • Couch again... I even tried to get her to fall asleep on me on her belly, but that was a no go. Tried putting her in her swing but she was up and talking to the elephants that hang from it. Im just hoping that by couch sleeping she won't get dependent on sleeping on me and will always want it. I'm hoping this is just a stage that shall pass- at least I'm praying it is.

I even read to roll blankets up under her sides- she rolled over them.

  • what would you ladies do? Just keep getting up and flipping her if she's crying? Just keep sleeping on the couch with her? Something else?

  • You poor thing. I wish I could give you some advice, but I have none. DS likes to sleep on his belly. I know it's not the best thing to do, but we co-sleep sometimes. DS sleeps between me and the wall in our bed. It's not ideal but during the wakefuls it was the only way I could get him to sleep and also get sleep myself. Plus he stayed on his back.

Or have you tried the RNP? That prevents her from rolling over and if she's awake and not crying you can let her talk and eventually she might put herself to sleep?

  • I put the swing in her room last night put on her music projector and closed the door and all she did was talk to the elephants above it.
She rolls every time I put her back onto her back. She'll stay on her belly for awhile just talking than maybe 10 mins later she's crying.
I can pick her up and she'll fall right back to sleep but 20 mins after putting her back down on her back she's up from rolling on her belly.

  • tonights not any better. We tried not turning her and just put the paci in her mouth and calm her- but doesn't work. Now she's wide awake and won't go down at all. I don't know what to do but take her and cry.

  • Really picking her up and taking her with me isn't helping either. She's not learning to sleep on her belly and is gonna be too dependent to sleep with me.

  • When she is on her belly, have you tried patting her butt or rubbing her back to get her calm on her belly?
  • DD decided 2:00am is time to get up and play :/
  • It was rough for a few nights as my LO was getting used to sleeping on his belly. Then he got used to it and is now waking up once a night to eat and that's it. Fingers crossed that she's gotten used to it and you'll all get more sleep.
