Positive Verifi Test

We recently received the results of a Verifi sequencing test, and they were positive for Trisomy 18. I'm getting an amino in 2 weeks to confirm. Terrified. Depressed. Out of my mind. Anyone else have this result?

New to this forum, and I already feel like I'm among old friends. Your comments are making me tear up. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. There are two different statistics they've given us. 98% accuracy with the test (because it's sequencing), which is terrifying, but my personal statistic that the genetic counselors have assigned is 60:40 that it's a false positive. So confusing. And so scary.

I'm so sorry your going through this. Have you had an NT scan yet? I had the same test, my OB suggested a NT scan should the results come back positive. If the scan shows further concern then have the amino test.

Thank you for your kind words. My OB actually discouraged the NT. She said the amnio would be the most accurate. Can't take the amnio for two weeks and then have to wait for another week and a half for results, so I have to live in fear for the next month.

Remember that the blood tested is placenta and not actual fetal. There's always a chance for mosaicism. Meaning it's confined to the placenta and the baby doesn't have an abnormality. Praying for a good outcome!
