Letrozole Questions

Hi :-)

So, everyone in my REs office seemed to be grumpy the last two days. My usual, favorite nurse wasnt in and I have some questions, just out of curiosity, that didnt get answered. I figured that all of you lovely ladies could help shed some light.
So, after 3 failed follistim IUIs, we just did our first letrozole IUI today.

When using follistim, I didn't go in for 7dpo progesterone check, but with letrozole I have to.
On follistim, after O, I start progesterone supps, but on letrozole I don't.

What's the difference? Or are these just quirks specific to my RE?

Maybe it's just your REs preference? I was on progesterone with my IUI and Letrozole, so not sure what or if there is a difference?

@rainbowbridge14‌ no, I specifically asked about starting the progesterone and the nurse said not to, unless I wanted to. Honestly, I don't want to bc I hate the side effects (of course I'll take it if it means a healthy pregnancy).
I asked her why and she said she didn't know. Which is what she said to every question that I asked :-/

I don't know about Follistim, but I do know that progesterone after O is part of my RE's protocol for Letrozole + IUI cycles. I don't think my doctor will have me come in for a CD7 progesterone check, though. So I imagine the progesterone supplementation is precautionary.

I really dislike nurses like that! Sometimes these decisions can make all the difference and they're very important to us. I would call back again with your own nurse and get some real answers so you can feel confident. And perhaps ask them to check with your RE for his/her decision. Good luck!

I've taken progesterone for all 4 cycles. First 3 were Letrozole only, but the 4th one I was on Letrozole AND Follistim... and still took the progesterone. And I only did b/w for progesterone the 1st cycle.

I agree with @BunnyBerry (as I usually do).. I would call your nurse and try to get answers. I know with my nurse, I'll call and ask her questions, and she gives me kinda half-assed answers. But I don't sweat it because every single time I've called with questions she has called me back within 5 min, saying she talked to my RE and has some definite answers. I love dealing with her because she is incredibly nice and very easy to talk to.

I had to keep asking about progesterone supplements because when I was originally tested, my levels were fine.  I did progesterone on my femara cycle and now I just started again on my first follistim cycle.  

i got a similar answer from my doctor before my second progesterone check...the you can do it if you want, but you don't need to.  Luckily I got re-tested.  It can be frustrating!!
